Thanks to Ray from Microsoft for the 'Windows 7 Deployment Seminar' we all had a great time and gained a lot of information from it. Thanks also to all of the EduGeek members present (pretty much everyone!), and please don't be afraid to come and have a chat with us anytime you want to let us know what you think, and I hope you all got some EG freebies, as we packed as many as we could. And I had teh pleasure of buying James (EduTech) his first White Russian cocktail last night (lager boy that he is). Yes make sure you come and have a chat with us, we dont bite!! ;-) although Tony (GrumbleDook) does have a habbit of putting his Tiger Claws into people!! Something to be Very Very! Affraid off lol as for the White Russian Cocktail it was actually very nice! i must admit looking at the ingrediants it didn't look very promising but i was shocked and did like it. Thank you Dos_Box Sir! you were getting just like Shaun (ZeroHour) he likes introducing me to new things lol James.

Theres a conversation stopper Thanks Ray for a very informative day. Sorry I couldn't hang around and say hi to peps at the end, had to brave the M25. Major road works, min 2hr tail back from M1 to M4. I turned off at the M40(W) and made my own may cross country. Took 5hrs (yes 8 o'clock) to get back to Norwich from Reading I've just checked over at the MS schools blog and the powerpoints from yesterday are up... Microsoft UK Schools News Blog Speaking of freebies (hell I'm willing to pay) any chance of some EduGeek Mugs? I could do with at least 4. Although I've yet to try the next version MDT 2010 (the RC was released a few days ago). I've played with SCCM for HV cluster management, but desktops is still on the to-do list. Two questions for anyone who does use it: How much does it cost education? What are the SCCM overheads i.e. what hardware does it need? Just updated my blog You get there summer 2011? john Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 (edited) Sounds like it was a good event, I'm so sorry I couldn't make it Its chaotic at work so just couldn't spare the time, (try being Site Manager, Exams Officer, Only Keyholder available for the next 2 week, Cleaner, DIY King oh and somewhere in among that lot IT Manager then you will know what I'm on about) and its going to get even more so before it gets better. Don't quote me because i've only had a test rig, but I think you get SCCM use with SA. Its only 32bit at the moment, SP2 apparently supports win7, dont think this is out yet,but due soon. It needs SQL and it does quite a bit of work on it. Recommended to install SQL locally but can be remote. Was a good day, massive thanks to all those involved. A breeze to get over to, only 1 /12 hours in, but 3 hours to get back to Kent after many-a-tailback on the 25. Gutted I missed out on the edugeek t-shirts (and mugs) as they went quicker than the Microsoft ones! Edited August 22, 2009 by Theblacksheep

With MS apparently threatening Windows 8 in 2012 that's just one year before you're out of date again I don't know about anyone else but I certainly don't have a big enough budget to replace Office, Windows Server and Windows Client every 2 years! And certainly couldn't do even two of them in the same year. I think I can hold off until Windows 9 in 2014 thanks.
