Not sure about the helmet overhang, might remove it becasue it covers one of the keys.

 

Thoughts?

 

Could you not re do the helmet going over the key and make the key go over the helmet so the key overlaps or goes over the top of the helmet.

Just out of interest sysman, do you use a tablet or is it all mouse driven with vector adjustments? I'd love to start getting into more graphics work as I think it is one of my weaker areas. If you have a sec to very roughly go over the process that would be fab too.

See below, but I feel that option doesn't work. The key is part of the shields logo and wouldn't overlay the helmet.

 

Just for reference ... and sorry to be a pedant (and glad to seen the final, fantastic coat of arms) but option 3 would not be possible on any coat of arms. The charge (the keys in this case) lays on top of the field (the background of the shield) and then other devices (helmets, coronets, etc) sit on top ... either overlapping or being overlapped by the shield. Pretty much as you said really though.

 

@FM-GM : Out of interest, did the local council not have a copy of this for you? They should have had a copy of anything that is officially granted as linked to their coat of arms.

Last year another member of staff looked for a better quality one. The only one they had was the same as ours. Also went to the libraries and a few other places.

 

Apparently the crest was actually made by a student yonks ago. When you look at the original image a posted you can see on the gold/yellow area it looks like glitter.

Wow very nice, but you stole my college's hanging ram! As my fleece I've got on shows we have that exact same hanging ram on it and were in the Yorkshire Dales so I have an entitlement to it (then again the principal banished that logo We got some stupid hills now that tbh are meaningless in my view the hanging ram and Yorkshire Roses make a talking point!)
