I think I would go for pro as it has the XP mode unless anybody thinks it would be better to get the home edition??? Thanks Reece

Amazon seems to be the cheapest place for it just now. I also assume if I have a laptop with the 32-bit version of Windows Vista installed I'll still be able to upgrade it to the 64-bit version of Windows 7. I realise it obviously requires a format/full re-install but I take it there's nothing stopping me from doing it?
AngryTechnician Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Yes, you can use the upgrade licence to go from pretty much any version of Vista to any version of 7, including crossing the 32-bit/64-bit divide. As you rightly state, in your case you have to go the 'custom install' route rather than it being a true in-place upgrade. A few places are selling it a few pence cheaper, but nothing substantially less than Amazon's price AFAIK.

The T&C's quoted by flyinghaggis seem to be correct. The email from Microsoft/Digitalriver with my link to purchase came through immediately. I've ordered 32bit Win 7 home prem for my old laptop at home for just £30. Result!
