I was having a new stereo fitted by Chorley Car Audio (Chorley Car Audio), and when I went to pick it up I noticed that they had a very weird thing going on with a car they were working on. It had a projector screen under the bonnet!

And a HD projector in the Windscreen, and a touch screen PC in the centre console, and a PS3 in the boot (with the PC), fingerprint immobiliser, remote ignition, external speakers, force feedback steering wheel on the passenger side, electric bonnet (press a button and the bonnet opens on electric rams

In short the car was AWESOME!

They were making ot for the Gadget Show and has about 12k worth of kit installed. The car is a 17 year old Golf GTi BTW. The show with the car on will be broadcast in September.

If you think that's crazy you should try the Blaupunkt car now that is CRAZY. I last saw the Blaupunkt car back in about 2002 and it was a MK4 Golf GTI (they always use VWs as the bases they said) and that was Awsome! It had everything you could think of, fine no projector but PS2 and Xbox (no PS3 back then obv.) but it had everything you could want and think of in terms of AV. The best thing is they sell them on afterwards fully kitted out if you want, they use them for about 12 - 18 months then sell them on. I was at the motor show last summer and they had one there for sale fully kitted out and it was mint.

Carputer will be one of the first modifications I make to my first car.

Torn between fitting the mac mini or buying one of these VoomPC-2 Car PC Barebone (Intel) hehe.

It wasnt bad, but other people had much the same thing in better cars. People have been putting Playstations and PC's in cars for years, yet they seemed to think they were being really original

 

I think I must have the least gadgety car in the world. The most advanced thing is the digital clock

ive got a asus eee 7" laptop built into my dash, i reversed the screen so that it can fit in flush with a custom dash surround, you would never know that it was a laptop or that is was added as an extra. Car Pcs are the best, full touch screen control of ipod, radio, dvd, video files, navigation, internet and handsfree calling, its great for driving long distances.

 

If you are interested in car pcs take a look at road runner (or ride runner as its called now) im currently using the elite skin and it looks amazing at night!
