Gatt Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Just checked MVLS for a Win2008 key and discovered that I now have a Windows 7 KMS key!! Just need the ISO now... 10 Days to go..
originofsymmetry Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Sweet mate Slightly OT but can anyone confirm a date when users of MSDN Academic Alliance will get this? I want my copy
adamw Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Yep the KMS key is on my licensing page has well. No sign of the keys on MSDN AA or the Final ISO I guess we will have to a few weeks. But my RC is still working grate so will keep me going until then.
bmdixon Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 We have too Does this mean (not that i'm going to do it or suggesting anyone else does...) that if we were to 'acquire' the RTM version from another source that we could install it with this key now?
Soulfish Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Is the 2008 R2 key available as well? I don't have access to the MVLS site until microsoft send through my login for our new schools agreement
p858snake Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Sweet mate Slightly OT but can anyone confirm a date when users of MSDN Academic Alliance will get this? I want my copy I think for the Academic Alliance users you have to wait till your campus manager enables it for you or something, well thats what my teacher said.

That's what I thought knowing that each campus has its on management for it, if so it'll be a wee while yet then. He was none to nippy at getting the RC up.
actech Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Just checked and I have the keys up too. Now just for the download and all will be good!
SYNACK Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 How long does everyone think the MVLS servers will hold up under the load of half the internet downloading 7 on the day of realease? I think about 6 hours for enough people to start hitting the server unless they just provide a link to a torrent. Probably one that is already avalible

I think about 6 hours for enough people to start hitting the server unless they just provide a link to a torrent. Probably one that is already avalible In some ways I guess that's what MS are hoping for - overload. Means that half the world and his wife are wanting to get their hands on it.
Gatt Posted July 28, 2009 Author Posted July 28, 2009 lol @ synack - I'm gonan be doingnothing but refreshing MVLS from the moment I get into work!! Gonna kill the whole school network so no-one else can get on till I have the Win7 ISO
Gatt Posted July 28, 2009 Author Posted July 28, 2009 Yeah just seen that - bugger Will see if there is anything on TechNet...
Oops_my_bad Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 I dont have these on our MVLS yet..nothing.. nada Wonder if it's because our SA is up in 2 days time and the paperwork still hasn't been sent off yet

Nick_Parker Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 n00b question: In order to install Win 7 with a KMS key, I HAVE to setup a KMS Server? 2nd n00b question: How to Install KMS Server to Activate Windows Vista Business or Enterprise My Digital Life Is this the correct method to setup a KMS server and would you recommend I setup my DC as a KMS?
powdarrmonkey Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Hmm, is the release date for 2k8R2 the same as for 7?
powdarrmonkey Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 (edited) n00b question: In order to install Win 7 with a KMS key, I HAVE to setup a KMS Server? Yes. (KMS key, KMS server..) 2nd n00b question: How to Install KMS Server to Activate Windows Vista Business or Enterprise My Digital Life Is this the correct method to setup a KMS server and would you recommend I setup my DC as a KMS? Take official advice from Technet. It's probably an acceptable way of doing it, but this is MDL we're talking about Edited August 3, 2009 by powdarrmonkey quotefail 1
Oops_my_bad Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Whats the deal with existing KMS? Ie, the ones dishing out vista/2008 activations?
Gatt Posted August 3, 2009 Author Posted August 3, 2009 For Win7/R2 I would image that the KMS Server can handle the new keys as for Vista & 2003/2008 there will be an update to allow it to handle the new keys.. Also I believe that the new KMS keys take Virtual Machines into account when looking for the Minimum Client count...
Number6 Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Yay! We have the key also. Just wait for Thursday now!
