Nick_Parker Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 a few more n00b questions (sorry in advance)... 1) Are the Win7 keys shown on licensing.microsoft.com for Enterprise or Pro? 2) When you register a KMS key on a KMS Server, do you need to use that key when installing the client, or do you not use any key when installing the client and it automatically finds your KMS server and gets its own key? 3) Do clients have be on a domain for it to pickup your domain KMS Server?

MS has documts stating that you should secure your KMS (ie from the net) so that others can't activate off it. Edited August 17, 2009 by SYNACK Added clarification that Pro was also avalible 1

Right, edited original post for clarification to satisfy the editer I do consider Enterprise to be the only sensible choice in a school or business enviromnent though due to its avalibility of bitlocker and also its automated activation with a KMS rather than the command line nastyness that you need to perform to make business hit a KMS.
