Hi,

Can anyone recommend a good on-line supplier of technical clothing (Berghaus, North Face, Helly Hansen, etc).

Don't really want to pay high-street prices!

Many thanks.

and again! it's what they get in prisons.....so i've been told...

:o never heard that one, although the with some of the types they get in prisons AKA young hooligans, they will suit some of the clothing they sell from MandM with it being "chav wear" as it were.

Outdoor clothing has it's levels, just like IT gear does. Street wear - user level; fashion stuff - what's the latest gadget; technical - the stuff we use or would aspire to use. Horses for courses as they say. Though not too sure of The North Face any more since much of it is now made in China!

The reason I asked is because I'm off to India at the beginning of August and all my stuff got hammered the last time I went in 2007. It's monsoonal there and really humid so you need the proper gear. Cotton clothing is useless, you need the shirts to be goretex stuff, and decent footwear as well. Out there cheap stuff just falls apart and you sweat like a pig when you're travelling around a lot as I will be.

If you are ever heading down the M40, there is a Helly Hanson outlet at the Bicester Village.

I got a waterproof/breathable mountain jacket reduced from £120 down to £50 a couple of months ago.

It is also nice to be able to try stuff on and compare the different designs (and they have a lot of stock) which you can't do "online".

Well worth a visit (along with the other stores as well ;) )

There is also a The North Face outlet, but to be honest the prices weren't that good (and i consider it "celeb-ware" anyway).

All of it seems to be made in vietnam or china nowa days. I bougt a few 80 quid stuff a few times with zips breaking, getting caught, sewing coming undone allmost straight away. : (

What happened to decent stuff your paying alot of money for!? Which cost like a quid to make. Specially when I am off to Alaska in a week :/ - Hoping to get some stuff out there in Seattle but prices will probably be exactley the same. A rip!
