Letting some steam off ppl ...

Got a new guy Techy of recent. Nice bloke but not much experience (basic home user), just had good grades in IT in general.

Had some new PCs in, head of IT department who "sort of" appreciates I am busy asked me to get him to setup a new suite.

I explained I need to create an image and that needs to be rolled out etc. and that my new asst. can plug up all the PCs and I will show him some stuff but im still getting the impression (again) that anyone can walk in and do my job.

Very frustrating attitude! :(

Maybe when I go they will realise, or will they I wonder. Everything will be set up wrong and it will slowly morph into a huge disaster!!

Ive been told by the formentioned fella that I am too experienced for this place!!

Think that says it all, they dont see / recognise what is required from their sheer naivety. All lack of understanding on their behalf, you dont know what you dont know I guess! Very frustrating :(

Be thankful your not going for jobs atm.

I had a interview last week

IT Test, aced it,

pupil panel, aced it,

Interview, Said "I didn't debate with myself enough" ?!? OFC theres no debate I've been a IT Technician for a while now, I know the answers to your typical technical interview questions.

Now they have someone, who didn't know what a GPO was and couldn't figure out that a patch lead was unplug & a service halted (in the technical test).

Are you saying they give the job to the other person who didnt have any idea?

Next job if I get too much of the clueless-idiots attitude I wont take the job! (provided things are not too desperate)

I'd be thankful I didn't debate with myself, if that's who they've appointed they clearly don't have a clue. A job there would be hell on earth.

haha I did resist the urge to slam down the phone whilst calling them all mass debaters. Might damage any career prospects in that area ^_^

Are you supposed to sit in a corner muttering to youself?

lol, seem to be doing that more and more these days :D :D

"Didn't debate with yourself"?

What's that supposed to mean?

I'm guessing they're talking about the kind of things you often see on here "Should I use FOG or WDS?" - you need to be able to weigh up options and make a decision.

No idea how they were trying to assess that at interview.

Did you plug the universal mind reading headset in so they could log your thoughts :)

They would obviously have to ask you why you came to that conclusion and what options you considered? Or do the same thing with a written test

The probably had the job for the guy any way and had to offer the post to public. Just using an excuse to say you cant have the job which you cant turn round and say that its discrimination or bias

I talk out loud to my computers - if I am nice to them, then they usually work fine. Besides, I am fond of them and I get more sense out of them than the other people around here.

Except the new tosh laptop. But that is another story:attention:
