I have voted yes but would also be interested in a product that will work on other devices. I know that Capita are looking at supporting symbian o/s as well and this would also be of interest.

I think the app could be a bit of fun, but in tech, the next big thing is always around the corner. Every school has Windows OS to install SIMS onto, how many schools have iPhones?

We're looking at the whole mobile area to see what we should be doing. There would need to be a generic solution too but the iPhone is just too good to have an average application.

That's fair comment Phil - i know i'm after an iphone and although it's pretty it's not the best tech - it just has all the best apps!

It would be a good idea we want to use mobile devices more! something like a small app for ipod touch/iphone etc would be perfect!

 

If you had a "panic button" within sims! that could send an alert to a Senior Member of staff who is on call so they knew to go to a certain room lol! sims would pick up where that person is in the building i.e. what room

 

Saves me trying to get mobile devices to work with our Exchange Server

HTTP would be called SLG2, Java would mean me moaning a lot, Windows does like Java, Windows likes .net.

 

I think it makes sense to get it on the itouch\iphone, it's a nice device and lets face it, more secure then the Windows PDA os.

I'd imagine it's more a case of /supporting/ the iPhone; in terms of a mobile solution, iPhone would not be my choice of deployment platform, lovely as they are! HTTP /would/ be called SLG2, but I see no reason why the lesson monitor functionality shouldn't be a part of SIMS anyway: people and devices are becoming more and more mobile and tying SIMS to a desktop/laptop is not a good strategy.

 

I see behaviour products that work on PDA (or other small portable thing) so that incidents can be logged at source, ID/pass-out checking at gates, etc. You could do a lot with a mobile device.

Android works on lots of platforms... Expect to see it on PDAs soon enough.
