I've not used this in a production environment however has been playing for over a year just testing it. I really like the way you can detach and reattach the pool from server to server, in theory if the OS goes, just attach it to another 2012 server and setup the shares and your good to go (DeDup on storage pools has caused issues with this however (bit of a shame)) Replacing disks was fast enough and can be done online. The only think i was a little annoyed with is the 2012 admin console titles did not pick up a 'smart' error on one of my disks.

Another position has become available so I have extended the closing date to close of play Friday 3rd.

Not sure about max support, but have been using a Wag320n for months now, solid as a rock and i average over 10gb a day through bit torrent. Give you a few gig ports too which was nice along with a few other features like shared usb drive etc etc.

This is definitely possible via a Batch file i used to have one that did this but managed to lose the bloody thing! A quick Google shows no sign of it so would also be interested in locating it again.

Thanks for the kind responses. Think i'll bite the bullet and buy one.

Hi wonder if anyone can help, Thinking of doing a quick bit of labelling of our network sockets that are a complete mess (pre me) and want something better to the job than a standard Cat5e cable tester. Came across one of these, IntelliTone Pro Toner and Probe | Network Testing | Fluke Networks Has anyone used one or an equivalent? Are they as good as they seem? Does anyone have a recommended one for a cheaper price? Thanking in advanced, Steve

HP finally release the replacement to the ProLiant ML115

Interesting, been looking at one of these for home use for a while now. Any reason why they have dropped the PSU in the newer model? I also take it the integrated storage controller still doesn't do RAID 5/6? -
Sorry to drag up a very old thread but i have today been passed a very old peice of software which acts in this exact way. I will try creating a bat file that maps a drive to the extracted ISO this afternoon but i was wondering if anyone could post up an example script using demon tools or the like to do this.

Adding a server to domain and replication
Steve_T replied to marsdenprimary's topic in Windows Server 2000/2003
Sorry for hijacking your thread marsdenprimary but i would like to clarify a few things here. I am also going to be going down this route of creating a Backup DC configured with DFS and Namespacing with the idea that if one server was to go down my end users would not notice a difference. Just to clarify if i was to run dc promo and add a secondary server i would expect automatic replication of AD/GP/Sysvol folders, is this correct? As long as i dont place a RODC i will also be able to edit AD from either server? My second point is regarding the FSMO roles and their placement. Should i be leaving these on one server or splitting them between the two? Finally, is there anything else i havnt thought about and need to take into account before completing this task? Thanking in advanced, Steve.- 8 replies

Hi, i wonder if you can help. I have just got round to testing this out for one of my environments that do not have WSUS in place. During my testing i was receiving errors regarding the registry key. (Error attached) Whilst looking at a few machine i think that the reg path is one step further "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP\v4\Full\1003\Install" and have highlighted the section in bold. If i amend the script to this path and run it on a machine that has it installed it is correct and does nothing. However if i run this on a machine that DOES require Dot Net 4 i recevie the same error as attached. Can anyone help, very new to VBS.

Allowing staff to change student passwords
Steve_T replied to flashsnaps's topic in Windows Server 2008
Sorry for dragging up an old thread. I have finally got round to giving this a go this morning and must say im actually quite impressed. One quick question however, is there a way to removed all other AD permissions and just leave reset password. Currently if i right click on a user i get the option to delete etc. -
Had this a previous site 6 months ago, never found an answer in the end. Was only happening to one machine every two weeks so began rebuilding them via WDS. Would be interested to see the fix for this however. Ps. Mine started after a ranger migration (i don't know if this helps narrow it down a little)

Application to Show if Server re up or Down
Steve_T replied to Steve_T's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
Many thanks for your quick responses, This will certainly prompt further reading. I hadn't thought about network printers yet so this will be an added bonus. I will check outside Spiceworks on Monday. My final question would be then, is there any down side to monitoring your network appliances in this way? -
Hi All, Wonder if you can help, I'm currently looking for an application with a nice GUI to show me whether my servers are up or down. The application will need to run on my server and send i would guess regular ping requests to ensure that there is still a response. Would need some GUI indicator with sound. Like Green for a server which responds and no sound and a red icon with a buzzer for a server that hasn't responded after the last three attempts. Does anyone know of anything or written something that they would like to share. Thanking in advance, Steve
