When I was a kid, my mum used to shout 'fish, fish!' out the back door - the call to let our cat know it was feeding time. Because of this, our neighbours then all thought that this was what the cat was actually called, and it stuck.

I once had a friend who used to have a big fat ginger tom cat which he called Boris Bastard because it used to crap on everything and slash the curtains. When he used to come home drunk from the pub (my friend, not Boris), he used to get in trouble with the neighbours for shouting the inevitable when he wanted the cat to come in for the night.

I generally find that you can rename a cat on a daily basis.

God yes! I am glad someone else does that.

We think up a new name everyday for our cat (officially 'Chocolate'). Recently he has gone by the names:

Sir Alfred Pawsworthy

Mr Cat

Mr Furry Trousers

The Rt Hon Albert Furbury

And the ever popular Chairman Meow

Anyway, I think you should call your cat 'Boots'

This cat appears to have adopted us. It is a black cat with a tiny white flash on her chest. ( Not Jess, too obvious )

Something original would be nice. Her new found brother and sister are called Daisy and Spike.

How about Drusilla?

Our cat's 'Official' name is SID (he came from a cat rescue and they nicknamed him 'Hissing Sid' and it stuck...) and he gets:

  • Sir Siddy
  • Siddy Widdy
  • Siddy Widson
  • His Gingerness
  • Mr Siddy
  • ..and various others!

He answers to most of them....:)

and there was me thinking you had an office cat :(

The cat in our house is called CLEO, according to my mum who's cat it is its short for Cleopatra as she is rather cute, she has white toes on her back paws and white bits under her arms and the odd white bit and flec elsewhere (she is black for the rest of her). I still think its great having a cat called after an RBC, only problem is my RBC is now YHGFL not CLEO.

We have Oscar and Charlie... Slightly unfortunate with Oscar as one of next doors kids has the same name which used to cause all sorts of confusion :)

Oscar in particular likes to pretend I don't actually own the chair he likes to sleep on...

As for the pic with Charlie (the black Tom).. He was wondering what that webcam thing was doing moving like that :)

Arthur Cat

then pronounce it with a 'f' sound instead of the 'th' sound

so essentially arfur Cat

Oh, I should also add this works best with a slightly cockney accent
