localzuk Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 I'd be looking at the HTC Touch Pro 2, if you can stump for £430. If not, the HTC Touch Diamond 2 is £330.
TNE Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 Depends on applications required but the HTC Touch Pro is a nice phone. This site is worth a look as it has all the specs and reviews. GSMArena.com - GSM phone reviews, news, opinions, votes, manuals and more...
box_l Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 the HCT touch Pro 2 definitely, the battery life on the diamond is not really good enough. still a nice phone thogh. BoX
Diello Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 iPhone is wayyyyyy overrated, save your money. Go for a HTC - I love my TouchHD personally, but quite expensive without a contract. Go for the Touch Pro2 or Diamond2. Samsung Omnia HD is good to.
russdev Posted June 19, 2009 Author Posted June 19, 2009 Should say this has to be on pay as you go.. Russ
powdarrmonkey Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 A Palm Pre, as soon as it's launched. Failing that, an unlocked Treo 650/680 and a PAYG SIM from somebody.
localzuk Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 Should say this has to be on pay as you go.. Russ PayG sims are pretty much free. So, all the phones that've been listed so far can be bought new, unlocked. The HTC's I quoted were Catalist pricing from Insight.
Haptic Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 I have been give £350 to £400 for a new pay as you go phone I am tempted to put extra 40 quid and get new Iphone on pay as you go.. russdev Posted June 19, 2009 Author Posted June 19, 2009 arr secret for project I am involved in (not a school one) I was amazed as well Russ
Netman Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 No way am I an Apple fan boy - but I have tried most of the latest smartphones and I bought the iPhone. IMHO nothing can touch it. I still can't quite believe I own a piece of tech with an apple on it but if you get one I don't think you'll be disappointed. Do what I did and get round the shops/friends/colleagues trying them all first. Most people who slag the iPhone haven't got one or probably even touched one!
powdarrmonkey Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 arr secret for project I am involved in (not a school one) I was amazed as well Cue really dodgy thoughts... who have you sold yourself to?
linkazoid Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 If you can wait a bit, then have a look at the Samsung Omnia II Link to Eye Candy Not sure on the pricing, but it should be within your budget. Michael
PEO Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 iphones are awsome, I do have one, but I would not use it for buisness, get your self a HTC
Ric_ Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 I'd be looking at the HTC Touch Pro 2, if you can stump for £430. If not, the HTC Touch Diamond 2 is £330. I agree on the Touch Pro2 front... you can then give it me and have my Touch Pro instead. I also happen to have a spare Vodafone PAYG SIM... In fact, I'll sell you my Touch Pro and PAYG SIM for £350!
GrumbleDook Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 iPhone for me ... nothing else had made me smile this much since first getting my P800. Tried a number of other phone including blackberry for a while ... happy with iPhone, but you knew that anyway.
contink Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 the HCT touch Pro 2 definitely, the battery life on the diamond is not really good enough. still a nice phone thogh. Sorry to go off topic... Really? I hadn't spotted that... Can you provide a reference... ?
achedgy Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 iPhone all the way for me! Use for business connected to my exchange server and it is brilliant. Just works nicely and with the exchange link never have to touch itunes after the initial setup and occasional update!! Handles email, contacts and calendar really well! and can remote control my servers using logmein on it pretty well! Has got me out of a few holes where clients have called me on the road, pulled over, logged in and sorted it.
mossj Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 G1? Think I saw them unlocked on amazon for £300~ I lub it and you don't have to pay for a majority of the applications.. As good as the iphone if not better.
Quackers Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 Surely you could get SIM Free for that price instead of Pay as you go.
CyberNerd Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 Anything with Android! G1 for me! there is a list of unlocked G1s' here Unlocked G1 - T-Mobile G1 Unlocked Phones

john Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 HTC Touch Pro vote here, I've got the Touch Pro 1 like Ric has and love it
teddybear Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 I've only had my iPhone for about three weeks, absolutely loving it. Wasn't sure if I should actually go for it but I'm so glad I did. Love the different apps, connecting to my work exchange account was simple. The latest firmware for it adds loads of extras which were much needed...
