StewartKnight Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Apologies to those wise people who DON'T own an iPhone.... but why are you reading this then!!! A new feature of the OS is LDAP, although I'm not sure how much useability there is with it, at least it should talk to a windows AD network now!!!
achedgy Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Downloading now, looking forward to having a play!!
DevilsAdvocate Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Downloaded and installed, but can't access store to activate..great
rush_tech Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Downloaded and installed, but can't access store to activate..great same here couldnt access my iphone in itunes!! unistalled itunes and reinstalled seems to work now:D
achedgy Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Couple of issues getting it activated, but all go now!! Copy and paste... finally!!!
DevilsAdvocate Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Finally got through to activating! Only feature I really care about is MMS
IrritableTech Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 I had trouble with activation as well. All done now. I like the search facility. As mentioned copy and paste and MMS long over due. Otherwise nothing much to write home about.
t4ll1f3r Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Don't forget tethering! I had problems accessing the app store as it seemed to want me to agree to the new T&C but didn't bother to tell me it wanted me to. OK now.
tmcd35 Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Tethering is a bit of a white elephant... O2 prices iPhone tethering and MMS The cost of the 'tethering bolt on' means it's not worth while They could do with a free amount of tethering in the standard contract.
andy_nic Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Installed mine last nite, i like the MMS, copy and paste. the voice memo could be useful other than i can't see much diffence other than it takes longer to turn off. Also took me 5 mins to find the settings on o2 website, because the update replaces the Internet settings with new ones.
webby74 Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 I was quite looking forward to this, but now its installed I feel a bit of an anti-climax. Don't get me wrong I think they need to add these features but I have been very happy with my iPhone before the upgrade. My fav though is the landscape keyboard....much more easy to text now:)
bulletproofbaba Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 This is such hyped up technology it is unreal, when will people realise that this is pure eye candy, there are soooo many flaws to the iphone that makes my eyes water ! LOL !! :-)
pooley Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Waiting for the Jailbreak firmware v3 to be released before I install.
mullet_man Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 I installed it last week when it got leaked, not much difference, MMS is good.
Domino Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 This is such hyped up technology it is unreal, when will people realise that this is pure eye candy, there are soooo many flaws to the iphone that makes my eyes water ! LOL !! :-) Erm - don't buy one then.. Personally I don't have a problem with its main selling point being a flashy UI, as its something I'm gonna use all the time I'd quite like it to look nice.
SC-UK Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 I like it. It seems to run much better than 2.2.1. As well as all of the "main" features, I keep finding changed settings etc all over the place. I don't like the new Messaging icon though, it looks strange!
Domino Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Was using youtube on the train this morning, and although the search seemed to take ages to load - the videos seemed to come down much quicker. Didn't have any problems with the download, and it seems to have fixed any little niggles I had before...works for me!
pete Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 iTunes needs to be taken behind the barn and shot. Got the firmware downloaded ok, go to update firmware and get error 1604, which (reading between the lines in the apple support notes) means "something is wrong with iTunes, it could be a number of things - grab your sacrificial goat and follow this list of dance steps, some of which may or may not fix your problem". Said steps (DFU button jenga, different usb ports, usb 1.0/2.0 ports, purging and reinstalling iTunes, forcing it to redownload the firmware all failed), so I slapped xp on a spare hard disk in another machines, installed iTunes and it worked. In a fit of morbid curiousity I tried a complete restore from the original computer - that now worked. So did updating the gfs iPhone on that machine.
Dodgex1 Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Got it last night, no problems. I can't see the big deal. 90% of the stuff thats in the update should have been in it from the start.
