ICTNUT Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Clicking the download just downloads an .aspx page for me? There is a kown bug in the File Transfer manager that MS uses to control doawnloads, the workaround for XP is here: Microsoft File Transfer Manager VISTA / Server 2008: If you are running Vista or Windows Server 2008, you should check to make sure User Account Control (UAC) local policies are not precluding the Active X installation and launch from happening. In Windows Server 2008 there are 10 new UAC policies with 2 or 3 options each, and some users have found they needed to make adjustments in order to successfully install FTM. Specifically Enabling "Admin Approval Mode for the Built-in Administrator account." has allowed FTM to be installed for some users experiencing this problem. Or you can download it here: Microsoft File Transfer Manager
strawberry Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 how does this work ? surely ms doesn't jsut give away all their software for fweee?
strawberry Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Most of our guys here have got it without a problem although I can confirm the keys do not work as in the keys wont show or as in the keys wont complete when used during installation?
tech_guy Posted June 3, 2009 Author Posted June 3, 2009 Well I've just downloaded Vista, burnt the iso on to a DVD, generated the key, and it's installing now as I type.
andy_nic Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 can i just point out this Free 1 Year Microsoft TechNet Plus Subscription (Consumer Services Professional Pilot) My Digital Life which explains why some people have a 1/1/1900 expiration date
contink Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Not being familiar with TechNet and what it allows, am I right saying that I can now download software and use it legally even after the subscription expires? If it's anything like the Partner Program, then no... Once your subscription expires you are required to either renew your subscription or destroy all copies, uninstall, etc... If you ignored that requirement you would be in breach of licensing requirements and be liable for legal action. In short, same as Warez.. FWIW, I've found the Partner Program to be much more useful in many respects but you do need to be a company to get it.
Guest richard_s Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Well I'm able to download stuff but cannot access the keys. Just keep getting different errors

mac_shinobi Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 (edited) Can someone please help me get signed up for this as I just keep getting error pages - have tried under vmware fusion running xp sp 2 with ie 6 as well as firefox on OS X and just keep getting the error page on all the links Error We are unable to validate your customer information and proceed with your order at this time. Try here instead guys. +1rep thanks tech_guy. EDIT: Ignore this link, it won't play without valid US postal code. - I think the EMEA one is the best bet which is working fine for me in FF3 now. if it takes you to the US page just go to the end of the url where it says LocaleCode=en-us and change that to LocaleCode=en-uk then press enter Edited June 3, 2009 by mac_shinobi
binky Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Reading about it, the reason why you can't get product keys is because your subscriptions have been disabled because you did not complete the survey (it is closed).
