Hi all,

We have had a plan to migrate from Server 2000 to Server 2003. We would supply all the configured servers and software and a company quoted us 6 days to help us with the heavier stuff - ie making sure the SID history tied up with the new domain and that we got Exchange 2003 working correctly and generally bouncing idea's about customising AD. They quoted us 5 days of their time, but we have just gone to book them in, and they say all the dates we are requesting are already booked. It was a bit of a cock up with the school's finance team not liking to release any money until jobs are completed, and the company not commiting without a deposit.

Anyway, i am left with a migrational project that will need support from someone that has good experience with these types of projects.

My option at the moment is to postpone, but that would be a disastrous last resort.

Can anyone recommend anyone, company or single contractor?

We are located on the dorset/wilts border.

PM if you can help or any suggestions. I can give you more details of what we are trying to do, amount of users etc.

Cheers

Steele

Data-Assurance.co.uk - Based Harrogate, have staff all across country - used to work for them, the boss Sean Sanpher is well accredited and the rates are cheaper than alot.

Is this a single 2000 domain that you want to upgrade to 2003?

Are you sure you really need to go to the expense of a contractor?

I'm sure you'll be able to get someone to do it for you, but you really don't need to - google the process and ensure you have decent backups (just in case)

I wonder if anyone on here in the same area as you would consider doing it on a freelance contract.

I'm sure there are a lot of people on here who would either help you out or come in and do the work for you (for a fee).

Regards

I'm sure lots of people will jump at it, but I'm still not sure the OP needs it.

It sounds scary, but really honestly isn't! A good read-up on Google and Technet (and probably on here too) and they'll be good to go!

We did our network a couple of years ago now and the actual process itself isn't a huge one at all - less than a day from start to finish (obviously this might depend on number of servers and location etc)

I'd say probably one more for Exchange if it's a single server etc

(Although, in all seriousness, I don't have a huge amount of time to spare right now.. but if you're stuck, you know where to find me :))
