Hi Guys.

One of my colleagues recently re-formatted an Windows XP Computer without saving the data on it.

So my question is: What "Data recovery software is in the market" for retrieving data of an re-formatted hard disk.

Your responce would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks. :hand:

Recover4all is sitting in my disk bag.

I have not used it in a while so cannot comment further.

You should be using a CD / DVD based package, certainly NOT something that you have to install (or you may over-write the files you are trying to recover!)

(Just tried the disk on my PC, no install required - standalone exe).

We have found that R Studio File Recovery and Data Recovery Software. Hard Drive recovery utility has saved a lot of tears, and is well worth the $79.99 we paid for it. Although, there does now appear to be a demo version, that claims to work.

It does, however, take several hour to scan through your disk, sector by sector, before giving you various options on how various different versions of the same file, that it has varying amounts of, although it usually has a 100% version in there.

rStudio is the 1st port of call for a DR engineer before trying other things.

I assume (and hope) you have this HDD as a slave or USB attached to a different system and will be recovering to either the system's drive or a 3rd HDD.

It may be stating the obvious but I've seen plenty of drives from people who've recovered their data back onto the drive they're in the process of recovering.

For recovering formatted data, easeus data recovery wizard impressed me most. I once formatted my seagate drive by mistake and this software got my data back and saved my time to re-work again. You can find it on google.
