Changing the path of my documents to a users home drive

I was just wondering if anyone had any idea on how to change the path of my documents from c:\documents and settings\hig\my documents to a users home drive on the server.

Pretty sure its done through group policy under one of the folder re direction policies

Can also be done manually - right click on my docs, properties, then change the target.

And also in the registry, under HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\UserShellFolders.

Can you elaborate a little more on what you want to achieve? I.e. is this for just one user, or for a collection of users moving forward or?

We do it in 2 locations.

1) Under user profile settings in Active Directory, we set home dir to map h: to their network share. (this sets up permissions as well)

 

2) Under GPO folder redirection, redirect to h:.
