Do they need to be free? Just any handy apps that you use on your macs. They don't have to be free if they are worth the money

Here's what I recommend, just google the name of the program to download. VLC -video player MPlayer Extended - another good video player Aduim - Instant Messenger Seashore - Image Editor Open Office -Office Package Truecrypt - encryption Spotify - music Last.fm - music Handbrake - video converter Virtualbox - run virtual windows / linux Darwine - run windows apps natively iTerm - good terminal replacement Textmate - text editor Firefox - webrowser Thunderbird - email Transmission - bittorrent Cog - music player MS Remote desktop client - connect to windows machines Skype - Voip Dropbox - backup / cloud storage Zumodrive - cloud storage with iphone client Filezilla - FTP Edited March 17, 2009 by somabc

Had mine up to 85 deg cel running a VM Open Office SuperTuxCart - Found chess got boring and these are the best open source games ever! SuperTux Dragonburn Mac the Ripper aMSN
rolfea Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Anyone know if games run Ok in it? I got Unreal Tournament Gold Edition running just about alright in it. Graphics were low, but Ran smoothly Sound hardly worked after a while, but I didnt need that on the train to London =D
mac_shinobi Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Wasnt too many games it supported that I have managed to get to work so I just use bootcamp for games and vmware fusion for apps / web browsing / scripting and tasks that dont require much umph. Another app I have and is great for un installation of apps is app trap ---> AppTrap Other then that I have disco --> Disco - Mac Disc Burning Toast titanium, handbrake, iLife, google earth,file zilla and a bunch more. I dont have the ones that were mentioned above with regards to Dropbox - backup / cloud storage Zumodrive - cloud storage with iphone client Cog - music player iTerm Darwine Visual Hub Would be nice if someone could post back with links to the above ones , thanks

I recommend Audicity to a teacher because she want to music editing program and it's free. Crossover Games, is supposedly good for running windows game on mac. I don't know much about except it's based on Wine. I learned about these software through article about essential apps for mac ...

I have always been a VMWare fan and preferred it but now with the newest version of Parallels, both products have there merits. It's useful to have access to both!
