I went a tech conference at local university, and one of the topics was Windows 7 migration. In fact, that university itself was a microsoft case study for that migration. Yeah, I live in the US and I don't think they have prepay 3g internet either but I could be mistaken, I know virgin how's prepaid internet usb modem but I'm not sure if it's 3g. For whatever reason, prepay services are not that popular in the US, postpaid is much more popular, or postpaid with no contracts, go figure

I have a B.S. in Information Systems. I receive the basics in most areas of IT, so that I can be prepared for any career I would I pursue in IT. I never thought I would go into help desk but here I am. It's funny how you can think, you might not be interested in field until you actually do it. I'm actually pretty interested in it right now.

We were using N Computing in our schools and we have decided to get rid of them across the board in our district. Personally, I didn't tinker with them that much, but, I know there was one major program we couldn't use it for, sunburst: TTL 4, which was necessary program in the curriculum. We are evaluating Wyse thin clients currently. If anyone needs more info, let me know. Hope this helps

The whole model in the US education sector is different since the district are pretty much independent governing school bodies. There are very few standards that are across the board even in surrounding districts. I imagine that are more standards in the UK. Also, I've heard it school administrator who told the IT technician to trace the laptop. As someone who currently works in US, I know all to well the unique of dealing with school administrators who are not well versed in IT policies and for that matter any kind of legal implications that is not directly involved with education.

I actually grew up in the next district over. It was national news here in the US. That school district is the wealthiest in PA (and is part of the famous Main Line) and they provide Mac's to every student that they can take home.
