ZeroHour Posted July 4, 2013 Author Posted July 4, 2013 Advert for dodgy software Blocked, it should be removed in the next hour. Cheers
sjatkn Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 (edited) Not sure if this is what you consider bad but I have noticed this link turning up recently. There were a number of others from the same site (bym.sitescount.com with different URLS). The seem to have vanished for the moment, so I they reappear I will post them also. That ad doesnt expand for me automatically but if I click it, it does fold out so it may be a Opera bug. Could you try clearing your cache as well.
john Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 Had this passed to me by a colleague (Thanks Si) who was browsing the site: http://static.ecigmedia.com/Advertisers/ef6b26d7f8864a2e8078c077d5331d96.gif with a target URL - Electronic cigarette and e-liquid supplier to the world - Ecigwizard
tech_guy Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 I'm concerned about the Wonga banner ads - wrong wrong wrong on so many levels - they're legitimised loan sharks. And Go daddy - hateful company; the owner goes out shooting elephants: These sort of ads are putting me off using this site. Seriously. I know you've got to monetise it but perhaps we can lose these companies?

And Go daddy - hateful company; the owner goes out shooting elephants: These sort of ads are putting me off using this site. Seriously. I know you've got to monetise it but perhaps we can lose these companies? I am 99.9% sure they are lovely high quality google adsense ad's, I will attempt to restrain google again this weekend (shattered right now) but we are in the process of removing/reducing google adsense right now for these reasons and more so poor ad's hopefully will be less of an issue in the future when we get rid.
ZeroHour Posted October 21, 2013 Author Posted October 21, 2013 My macbook burned out so I have only finally been able to apply the changes now as tablets were useless to adsense manage. The changes should be applied in the next couple of hours.

computer_expert Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 Just had a blocked notification from sophos whilst browsing a thread: 20140927 172529 Blocked web request to "www.trendingcentral.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/BBC-News.jpg" (linked from "www.edugeek.net/forums/general-chat/142634-just-out-curiosity.html") for user removed. 'Troj/JsRedir-NV' has been found at this website @ZeroHour
6Foot2 Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 I don't know what the URL is but this ad popped up as one of @ZeroHour's signature pictures: http://i.snag.gy/ffoi3.jpg Perhaps content that isn't appropriate. Sorry if this is a false alarm. Source thread: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/edugeek-net-site-problems/143107-images-not-showing-post.html

abillybob Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Can we block this please, I know it's not the worst in the world but don't think it's appropriate to be looking at it when surrounded by primary school kids
X-13 Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 That's google adsense, if memory serves... It's showing that because of your browser history. What have you been looking at?
ZeroHour Posted January 27, 2015 Author Posted January 27, 2015 Cant find that specific ad but I found others they are using and they have been banned. Thanks for reporting.
ZeroHour Posted April 29, 2015 Author Posted April 29, 2015 We have disabled Google Adsense ad's. The quality lately has pretty awful so we are disabling them for a while until Google sorts it out. We have a provider who uses Adsense to host ad's but that is not the same as Google's own Adsense ad network.
ZeroHour Posted April 29, 2015 Author Posted April 29, 2015 Temporarily re-enabled adsense to test some changes to see if it helps.
LeMarchand Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 I think this is the most offensive advert I've ever seen on Edugeek: 2
