Do they actually make them dress like that and look artificially 'geeky'? Oh, and their net ranking is 586,168 compared to EduGeeks 80,989! And they're a multi million dollar company!!

As an ex-employee of the devil incarnate (DSGi) have to take some offense at that statement. I have known and am friends with a number of technicians at PC-World. I'm aware of their qualifications and skill sets and can assure you they are anything but clueless or weasels. Now the managers and 'customer service' staff they are surrounded by.... That's another matter. In fact as a customer you'll very rarely ever meet the actual technician(s) working in the repair center. In stead you'll be constantly infuriated by the 16yo college drop out customer service rep they have working on the 'help desk'.

JJonas Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 I am sure there are some good techs at PC World, However when I went for an interview with them they appeared more interested in if I could run up 12 flights of stairs and not look puffed than if I knew anything about computers.

Sadly the general public sees the clueless helldesk/customer service wombles picking their noses and concentrating on extended warranties, so they represent "level of clue at PC World" to the world at large. Perhaps badges for the wombles saying "I am not representative of the person who will actually fix your machine?"
