witch Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 We actually have snow today, when most of the rest of the country does not!! It is all across the South West, and it has been snowing heavily for some hours. No ice though, so driving isn't too bad at all.
stu Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 we had a quick onslaught at about 2 yesterday then it melted around 2.01
ninjabeaver Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Just a real hard frost over here in Norfolk. It's got a skinhead and flick knives. I've even seen a bit of it dressed in hoodies. 1
TechMonkey Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Think we just had heavy hail here. Decided to be ultra cautious and not come in on the bike. Not happy

Hightower Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Had snow here yesterday for a couple of hours..... Still no need to wear a coat though.
Andrew_C Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Wet snow, sticking on the hills but nothing to write on a web-site about... Oh wait, I just have!
RabbieBurns Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Lots and lots of snow overnight here (but the busses are still running, schools are still open ;p)
elsiegee40 Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 I go up to a very light dusting of snow - looked like someone had sprinkled some sugar on the cars - it melted by 8am
bossman Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Just hard men and women up here hehe!!! Not soft like you Southerners, one bit of snow and the whole world has to know about it and if the temp drops to 9 Celsius well the price of Gas goes up good job we still burn candles up here to keep warm (cheaper than gas and we can make them ourselves out of animal fat and a bit of string). Coal sacks for bedding and sheets lovely and cosy pah!! you Southerners don't know your born. ;)
WStore_Dan Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 I motorbike it to work each day from Portsmouth to Farnham. It was raining slightly in Portsmouth when I left at 7:30 this morning. I was just past Petersfield along the A3 at 8am and there were huge icy hailstones! Had to pull over as I couldnt see a thing then decided it was best to turn around and head back home! Had to ride with the visor half open otherwise I couldnt see anything - not the best conditions to be in on a bike thats for sure!
Michael Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 No snow in the midlands, just a slight frost on the grass in places. Traffic was manic driving into Birmingham this morning though!
silver Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Coal sacks for bedding and sheets lovely and cosy pah!! you Southerners don't know your born. ;) we lived in a paper bag in't middle of t'road......
dave.81 Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 We had loads of snow here 4-5 inches none of the buses where running but most of the staff are here with a handful of kids lol Gotta love snow and 4x4

Have a car for main travel (luxury and safety) and a bike for fun. That way you can pick and choose when to ride it, and still get to work safely in a car when that calls.
WStore_Dan Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 This is a very good point indeed! Although this is where being a flexible office worker has its benefits I guess.
TheScarfedOne Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Light dusting here - not enough to close the place a la few weeks back when Exeter made the news!!
