dgsmith Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Does that mean that either 2mb customers will now pay the price 10mb customrs do, or that customers paying for 10mb will get a reducation to what was the 2mb speed, I wonder? I've recently cut a retentions deal with VM (on 10mb), however, with the recent price cuts already seen on 10mb, it is now not looking as good as it was just a month ago! Still, better than a kick in the face for those currently on 2mb!

Geoff Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Not that you can use 10mbit (even if it runs that fast) you either hit the traffic shaping caps or your local UBR melts under the extra load.

LeMarchand Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Have to say that I usually seem to get my 20Mb and the only time that I think I may have been capped was after a fairly heavy spot of usage. I normally do 1-2Gb when I get home and never notice any slow down.

I went with cable back in the Videotron days; then became ntl and I think briefly it had the Telewest name in my area before Virgin became the only cable company. I've had no real problems with either phone or broadband since Virgin took over compared to absolute nightmares with ntl. I'm only on 2Mb but it is rock solid at that speed and I'm not really desperate for any more so will just wait happily for my free upgrade :-)

If I am on a 20MBit line then I want 20Mbit ALL the time! They should stop selling what they cannot deliver. How does this sound? The Upload Plus is great. @CPLTD see if you can get them in your area. Even if not the LLU, their 8meg service is uncapped unlike BT who throttle *every* user between 6pm-12pm BT slams bandwidth brakes on all subscribers ?
