Worth noting development for W7 started at the same time as dev started for Vista. So no, it's not rushed - and it was announced on the first public release of build 7000 that it would be going directly to RC pending a a successful run of that beta. What's the worse that could happen - it turns out complete rubbish and we stick with XP/Vista as we're used to.

Yes, we'll stick to XP (oh wait, they'll take that away from us soon) and Vista .. er, no that's why we wanted to stay with XP initially!

I'm hoping W7 turns out to be a good successor to XP (Vista certainly hasn't been for a lot of people) otherwise it won't be pretty.

Very little added in 7022: few new icons, animations, RC1 IE 8.

The Beta has been one of M$'s most successful betas for a long time - most importantly from a marketing PoV.

Shockingly I actually found myself opting to use my W7 laptop over my XP desktop at work today because I found it easier... scary.

Yes, you can call W7 "Vista R2" if you want, but that's not so different to Windows 98 being called Windows 95 R2 as well. The majority of OS's are built upon the previous iteration.

I haven't had Windows 7 crash on me once, which is good because I've been using it intensively for a while now.

I've started getting picky at it, the Super Bar is bugging me again, having everything grouped makes switching between RDS's finnicky and it doesn't detect ANY of my USB drives... which is annoying, but I've got ways around that.

Looking forward the RC1 and extending the time period I can use Win 7 for :)
