I like my N95, its camera is great and after installing a couple of apps i think its great.

Just got rid of my N95, pretty nice phone, make sure you update the firmware it increases the speed of all the apps by miles!!! Carphone warehouse are doing great trade in deal for the N95 at the moment.

Only downside of the N95 is that the Scumm VM is hard to use :p lol (I need monkey island as its awesome) :D

there are reports that 2.2.1 has been broken but its alot trikier for 3g enabled phones

Well its not really broken. They are working on stripping the 2.2 baseband that can be broken and replacing the 2.2.1 baseband but its very risky stuff with stability issues a plenty I have heard.

Currently though if you get 2.2.1 you will probably be stuff for that plan because nothings public yet. I just left my iphone on 2.2 in case I want to unlock it.

Erm,

Dev-Team Blog

The software is free and pretty easy to use. Looks like even the new 3.0 is Jailbreakable. Maybe issues, as SC-UK, points out with unlocking the network though.

Also, PEO's link to a 'pay us £17 for free software'!?! site only mentions upto version 2.2. So there maybe issues with firmware 2.2.1 and unlocking the phone.

Exactly - it's only unlocking the network that poses a problem. I have my 2.2.1 3G jailbroken but couldn't unlock it. I'm not really that bothered - around here O2 is about the only carrier with any signal!

I have the latest Iphone its great except no Text forwarding how pants is that! cant send my mates all my good jokes

I think they've added the ability to do that in the 3.0 firmware. It's currently in beta tho, and you need to be a registered developer (£59 a year!) or know someone who is (they can add up to 100 phones to an account)

Just got my HTC Touch HD back ( the first one I had came with a green screen :( kinda reminded me of my first computer lol) have to say its the best phone ive used, responsive and browser is great for the internet and at last a usable MSN on a phone. Touch screen is accurate and bright and comes complete with USB cable, carry sock (i guess thats what i would call it!) and spare stylus in the box.

Sorry if this is a bit off subject but if you go into an 02 store and get the iphone on contract do you have to activate it in store? or can you take it home and "activate" it.

Thanks in advance

I activated mine at home - from a carphone warehouse

Really??? Was this recently? did they try and make you do it in the store? and did you have to give them any credit card details?

Basically i want one but i already have an 02 contract and don't wana pay PAYG prices

Contract...

The iphone contracts are different from the normal o2 ones - you're not gonna be able to chop and change.

But they might upgrade you to one if you sign on for a new 18 months..?

Bought mine last week from an 02 store and took it home to activate it.

Was that a contract one? I wana jailbreak it so i can use my current o2 sim but don't wana get dragged into another contract.

Did this at the apple store and I had the option for new contract or transferring an existing number to a blank sim card if you have the PAC ( corrected by powdarrmonkey ) code or w/e code it is to transfer so you can transfer your number and still keep your number etc and transferring contacts etc is easy. if you have the PUCK code or w/e code it is to transfer so you can transfer your number and still keep your number etc and transferring contacts etc is easy.

It's called a Port Authorisation Code (PAC) and is issued by your outgoing provider and consumed by your new provider.

In that case you'll have to pay full whack for it then

No because if you activate it at home then you can jailbreak it before and not get tied into the contract, thats what i did with the original but i was just wondering if they allow you to take them home now or force you to activate them instore like they did when the 3G phone first came out.

I now have LogMeIn Ignition for my iPhone 3G. It works like a dream over a 3G network! Response time is brilliant, easy to use. Everything seems to be just like using LogMeIn from a PC. Good times :D

I got mine from an Apple store in September last year and didn't have to activate it in store - done through iTunes from home. If you wanted to jailbreak it before activating then it is possible. However, as I have previously mentioned, you cannot "unlock" the new firmware for different carriers as the baseband of the phone has been modified.
