Can anyone suggest a Helpdesk based online system that uses PH and MySQL? We use Liberum currently which to be honest is a fantastic free program but we will be moving away from the IIS based web pages soon and I just wondered is anyone knew of a system that could run on Linux/Unix?

Thanks

@budgester: I like IRM and IRM2 promises to be superb. When IRM2 comes along I will probably adopt that. IRM currently doesn't work like I want it to though.

IRM is currently the only version being worked on and the version numbering is nearing 2 now :-)

There is a guy in America working a manual at the moment which is begining to look really good.

We have added devices to IRM so now you can track all them pesky projectors and cameras on your asset inventory.

Next up is gonna be added a link into OCSinventory so that we can find out all the hardware details and installed software on every machine on your network.

IRM2 has been killed, in fact it never really got passed the initial framework buildup.

I'm interested in which parts you don't like about IRM, I'll look into any suggestions you have and try and get them in the next version.

Branded DDR2 is not cheap.

1GB Crucial PC2-4200 ECC Registered DDR 2

Not as cheap as regular stuff admittedly and not the fastest stuff in the world either. However £80 ain't that much and it should work in any DDR2 loving server. If you don't like Crucial, Probrand do a Kingston equivlient for £73.

Of course once you start going to 2GB modules, then you're talking telephone numbers :p

Nah ah. Can't do that. Dell server still under support. I have to buy Dell branded memory from Dell otherwise I invalidate said support.

They cannot legally hold you to that, its like the "You bought a new MK5 Golf from SKF in Manchester and you must let us service it or else your warranty is stuffed" you are now not forced to get it serviced by the Main Dealer, it has to be traceable to show it was fully serviced to the manufacturer's specs etc. so using Crucial RAM is fine. Also, you can remove it when the Dell tech comes to fix it, and if they say its decreased, you took it from its brother server and returned it as you were testing :D

We have just setup http://www.kayako.com, up to now it seems very promising. Just gotta try and persuade the staff to start using it.

Remove the comma from the URL or the link won't work.

BTW Kayako has come up on a number of security sites.

Comma has been removed, thanks for the heads up re: Kayako. I'll see if I can find anything.

Trying to set One||Zero up, but getting lost with Task Groups and Task Categories..

Can someone show me how they've set theirs up?

Posted

I have groups for Software, Hardware and Network. My categories are then Curriculum, Admin, NEDAP and Requests.

The only reason for having the categories is for reporting (as far as I can see).

Is it possible to download one||zero without paying to become a member? The site seems to say yes but then doesn't offer a simple explaination how...

Anyone able to help?

:)
