Hi All,

I'm a senior ICT techie at a fairly large secondary school that have just started the process of planning BSF.

I have been asked to be a member of the "Transformational Team" - a small group of people responsible for drawing up the core values the BSF. (the first phase of the process)

I was considering starting up a blog to detail for you guys what I am going through and even uploading copies of the guidance notes etc so you can see exactly what I'm are given to work with (with particular interest given to the whole managed service situation of course)

The simple question is.....are you interested?

I am, BSF does not affect me being in a different country and all but it would be interesting to see the structure and organisation that is involved in the project.

Also if you are allowed as we wouldn't want you to get fired over it...

But if are and have time then yes please..

Yes please - would certainly make interesting reading. Though as Russ says, you might want to do your best to preserve your anonymity.

Hi all,

I'm in Worcestershire, in the Wyre Forest LEA.

I dont mind where I do the blog - here is good if the admins could sort something out??

I will have a quiet word about confidentiality to one of the SLT as indeed I dont wanna lose my job over it.

In terms of staying anonymous... I dont know that I'm too worried about that, my aim is not to go on a mission to destroy the evil of managed services but try to explain the procedures and meetings we go through. I also wont let it become "I cant believe Mr X is so stupid and wants to do this....." . From having a quick look around it doesnt seem that anyone from inside the ICT team has been a part of the BSF process before so its an opportunity to see what really happens (for all of us!)

I really wouldnt want the blog to be a one-way street. I've only been working for schools since last april so I'm really quite new to it. I kinda hoped you guys could provide some guidance and suggestions on what should be considered at various stages and perhaps point towards bits we/I may not have considered. I've only got one shot at this and from the one meeting I have had, the SfC (Strategy for Change) document we will be starting to construct very soon (next couple of weeks) will have a big influence on the final spec of the managed services (should we get them ;) )

Yes please It would be really good to get some insight. We've seen an "SLT" blog which was a really interesting read, so an ICT Technical blog will be invaluable!

If I was you I would host it on my own blog where it cannot be "moderated" by anyone involved with the running of Edugeek - some of whom have a vested interest in the BSF programme.

controversial. but perhaps valid?

I've not really been in the edugeek community long enough to know.

Anyone else have an opinion on this?

Ah, but then how do you know the moderator won't edit all their posts...?

Oh dear...

Conspiracy theorists of the world unite... unless of course you think THEY will join... How will you know... Oh help, it's so confusing...

Give me a break FFS! <= Contempt for notion in case you missed it...

Sheesh ... we have already been through this.

Mods and admins will moderate abuse or things that go into slander / libel. Those that hung around over Xmas are aware of the lengths we go to to keep things running smoothly.

Do we remove or edit individual posts because we do not agree with opions? No ...

As for the OP ... I would love to see your blog, but protect yourself in case your existing or future employer has an issue with it. If you want to host it elsewhere then I would recommend blogspot if you don't already have some space somewhere or perhaps wordpress.

I've never seen a poll here yet that wins by 100%. 100% people would like to see this blog. There's a lot of people on here who have varied different views. It's nice to find something that brings us all together, yet there's always someone who can find something to argue about

P.S. I would like to see it too.

@cjwhite I am also in a similar situation here to.

Have attended some BSF Meetings for similar reasons however I have managed to possibly go one step further where I have managed to get the school to be part of the BSF testing process.

We have been asked to take part in the Proof of Concept for the BSF ICT Infrastruce for the County. Which involves the school testing the proposed infrastructure under BSF I am expecting things to start moving with the testing process towards the end of the month.

From the responses you have had to your poll a Blog would be a good idea and I may also consider doing one as there seems to be plenty of people interested on here.

However before I commit to anything I will need to speak to the BSF Team to see if this would be ok, so I shall keep those of you interested posted with their reply and with any luck the blog will start sometime next month.

It would be great to see these blogs..

I've been through strategy for change 1 and 2 and am about to go to competitive dialogue. My hands have been tied up to now but the documents will be public soon and would be happy to share my experiences too

Hi all,

Enough talk of the mods... Grumble I appreciate you stopping by to clear it up. Lets not spoil a thread I'm kinda proud of, seeing as I hardly ever post on any forums :¬)

I'm glad you guys think it will be useful. Like Hightower says, 100% is quite a strong message (watch some bugger go and spoil it now!) ;)

It might be interesting to hear what the proposed infrastructure consists of, and how much influence (or otherwise) you have had in it's development.
