Netman Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Best - Elbow - The Seldom Seen Kid Worst - Have to agree with the OP, The Killers album has naff lyrics and is too predictable.

Dos_Box Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 A toss-up between Coldplay - Viva la Vida or Keane - Perfect Symmetry. I'm leaning towards Keane at the moment. I really, really want to see your record collection. I suspect that Steps may be lurking in there somewhere too! *bet you listed to Radio 1!*
webman Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 (edited) I really, really want to see your record collection. I suspect that Steps may be lurking in there somewhere too! *bet you listed to Radio 1!* It's all on my Last.fm page But no, I tend to avoid commercial radio like the plague, it's generally just so full of crap these days. I would also like to add British Sea Power - Do You Like Rock Music? to my faves The let-down for me was The Verve - Forth. Not very impressed. Love Is Noise and Valium Skies are the only stand-out tracks for me on the album. Edited December 4, 2008 by webman
tmcd35 Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Viva La Vida may just be song of the year. The album as a whole was a bit of a let down X&Y was better IMHO. Also up for song of the year would be Suttering by Ben's Brother, All Summer Long by Kid Rock, The Man Who Can't be Moved by The Script and I'm Outta Time by Oasis. As for Album of the Year... Dig Your Soul Out by Oasis probably get's it.... but Cross Eyed Rambler by Paul Heaton and Accelerate by R.E.M. are close contenders. The new Prospekt's March EP from coldplay is also quite good - better than Viva La Vida (album) itself. All IMHO.
rsarg Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Best Album - Kings Of Leon - Only By The Night Biggest Let Down - oasis - Dig Out Your Soul They are never going to do another album as good as the olduns
somabc Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Patrick Bateman: Do you like Huey Lewis and the news? Paul Allen: They're OK. Patrick Bateman: Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercial and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far much more bitter, cynical sense of humour. Paul Allen: Hey Halberstram. Patrick Bateman: Yes, Allen? Paul Allen: Why are their copies of the style section all over the place, d-do you have a dog? A little chow or something? Patrick Bateman: No, Allen. Paul Allen: Is that a rain coat? Patrick Bateman: Yes it is! In '87, Huey released this, Fore, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip to be Square", a song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity, and the importance of trends, it's also a personal statement about the band itself. [raises axe above head]
rolfea Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Best album- Blackstone cherry- folklore and superstition MUCH AGREED!!! Can't stand Kings of Leon personally Also impressed by Airbourne... the new ACDC?
