Can I go to BETT?

Okay, so I went to BETT last year while I was a techie. Now that I'm just a plain ol' student again, can I still register and attend? The show actually falls within my Christmas holidays so I wouldn't mind going along if I'm allowed.

What a pain! Well, I can see why but there's a big difference between a university student and, say, a year 9 pupil.

 

I already applied for a badge, which seemed to go through alright so I'll see what happens I guess. At worst, they can turn me away on the door and I'll have a day out in London.

im sure you will be able to get in without a problem if you have registered online and also if you had been before. I once blagged my way into the ects show as a gaming journalist and got access all areas which was a good day out.

Not as a student he can't no, it always used to state that students wouldn't be permitted.

 

In the other thread I said he'd have to register her as a professional person who is allowed entrance.

That "students" as in "school pupils", or "children", "kids", "grimy little oiks", etc.

Somebody I knew always put his job title down as "Head Teacher" on the BETT form - that way he was allowed to use the Head Teacher Lounge - which us mere mortals are excluded from

Only problem is when you go with your headteacher and colleagues IE school outing and there are then 7 Headteachers! I'd go for a few Asst Heads, Deputy Heads and Supporting Heads to ensure that its not too suss!!

Oh God, reminds me of a few years ago at another school, an LSA did something of a similar vane when attending on the Saturday and just happened to bump into the SMT from her school who clocked her badge. Awkward....

Seen boatloads of students, other halves, randoms, OAPs, etc. at both BETT & Infosec. You'll have no problem at all. If you do, ring our office and ask them to get me on my mobile... i'll come out and do my "irritated exhibitor routine" at the ticket desk (sometimes works!!)

I shall be asking useful questions. Like: When you share a printer in 10.5 server, why doesn't it actually *share* the printer?

 

MS will need asking when the SP3 login bug is going to be fixed.

 

Not that I think it's going to change anything, but 10 minutes throwing things at the apple stand will make me feel a whole lot better

A quick search on google for buzzword Bingo cards brings up some fun ones. I have some adapted for education and have been known to take them to seminars (including those at BETT).

 

We could all go to a particular seminar with them and a t-shirt to the person who actually stands up and shouts "House"!!!
