Got up this morning.

Car doors frozen shut and so much ice on the windows it takes 20 minutes to scrape it all off.

Only to find the gearbox was frozen as well. Ten minutes with a fan heater and I'm finally off. And the wheels were frozen to the pavement as well!

Drive twenty miles to work and they've hardly had anything! A light frost.

Got up this morning at 5 went for a brisk walk up the dales, back for 8, glorious sunshine and fresh so fresh when you inhaled it burnt your lungs with the sharp crispness of the air.

I thought to myself "It's good to be alive" and then I thought of the poor people down South who had just had snow how thoughtless of the world to do such a thing what was it thinking of disrupting the poor southerners who won't know what to do, beastly that's what i call it.

Well to all you southerners it's good to have a change in the weather for once hehe!!!

Yup, couldn't open the car doors this morning for fear of pulling off the door handles. Then had to scrape both the inside and outside of the windows for about 20 minutes.

Good job they went gritting last night the roads were surprisingly clear.

Bright sunshine in my bit of Kent. Other half has emailed me from Surrey (near Redhill) - about 40 minutes away (subject to the vagaries of the M25) where they've got about 2 inches down round the office! "Definitely enough for a snowman"

My son is extremely jealous!

We had beautiful crisp frost and autumn sunshine yesterday here in the Lakes - very pretty up here at this time of year. Today - tiny amount of snow but very cold and frosty.

How dare you have Snow in Kendal, no snow with us, just bitterly cold, looked like it could snow though but didnt :(

As for my home, cold, no snow either and but was sunnier than the Lakes was today.

Frozen gearbox???? I'd get that looked at. Oil shouldn't freeze...

As to door locks - WD40..and doors freezing shut - you can't beat vaseline.

We had snow..and ice. Since it was half term, I just smiled and plugged my solar panels into the car to keep the battery happy, then went for a cuppa and sit by the fire with a book.

It was the sheer amount of ice - and the thickness of it that did it. Should have taken a picture.
