I was just wondering today who actually uses vista in a school environment? The vista forum seems kinda dead :)

Personally we are totally XP here and going to skip vista and go straight for Windows 7 when its released.

I was just wondering what others are planning.

No hurry here either.

We are, for the time being, working on the theory if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Im working on the theory that you dont take steps backwards therefore we will also be missing Vista out.

I'm hoping to move a school over to 2008 Server and Exchange Server 2007 in 2010 when the new building is done.

Atm current setup is XP Pro and 2003 Server

got 4 vista laptops in which some of the younger more capable staff are using as guinee pigs but the rest is xp and all new purchases will be xp till they stop letting us get it

As a side note - I notice MS have extended the deadline again by another 6 months to july 09 :)

Have three vista laptops here and XP through out, server 2003 on servers. The vista machines are a complete nightmare, they have problems on the domain, they don't pick up group policies. I admit we have just got them, so there maybe some fix out there i don't know about, but at the moment i would happily change back to XP.

I have suggested it over and over, but some reason they want to keep trying vista even though they moan and complain about it, surely using what you already know would be the better option.

Pupil Domain is entirely Windows Vista with a mix of Server 2003 & Server 2008

Staff Is mix of XP and vista and all Windows 2003 servers.

Any new PCs or Laptops get loaded with Vista - If a PC can reasonably cope with Vista then it gets installed if currently system crashes.

All XP here.

TBH I'm waiting on some confirmation as to what is happening with our school under BSF as it could be 2010 or 2014. If 2010 then we will be spending the next couple of years letting the network gently rot ;-)

We are running 2K3 Server and XP here. Personally I don't really feel that I gain enough to warrant the cost's involved in upgrading.

Whislt a lot of my machine's run OK now the cost's of the Memory I would have to buy to make some of the older machines run VISTA is huge.

I've got it on my machine, because I can, but network wide I currently think the cost out weighs the benefit.
