UDM Pro - Reliability

We have a mixed fleet of Unifi Discs, mainly Nano HD, LR and Some U7

 

The Dream machine we have has never been reliable.

 

Are we just unlucky?

 

The latest issue is takes ten minutes to come on and says Unable to Retrieve Status 

 

Tried reset etc to No avail

 

We are pretty much down the Unifi path to stay with, just would be useful to hear some other experiences

I have 7+ UDMs (Mix of SE and Pros), all been running for around 3 years and not had a single issue with any of them.

How old is your UDM?

I had heard of some older ones being flaky and them having a USB stick inside you could replace and recover but it was a while ago.

Had the UDM for quite a while and never had an issue.

Are you on the latest firmware?

I think you are, I've got numerous UDM Pro's at customer sites and they've been rock solid

UniFi has always been solid for me. Only issue I have ever encountered was with certain ISPs blocking ports, and domains/urls. This used to cause issues connecting and updating occasionally.

I remember doing this... around November 2022, looking back through previous support tickets. I seem to remember taking the case off the UniFi UNVR and finding a USB memory stick hot-glued to an internal USB port on the motherboard. Replacing that did reset the UNVR to factory settings, but I think we managed to reconnect to all the CCTV cameras okay and I think it even imported the existing footage.
