Hi all,

I am currently doing a piece of work around emergency planning / Martyn's Law.

The MAT want a method of communication to alert the MAT central team of one of their schools going into lockdown.

For example at school level they will use NetSupport Notify to alert all staff devices on-site.

There then needs to be a method of communication to alert wider colleagues. I'm currently looking an option with 3CX Call Flow Designer. Use case would be an internal emergency extension is dialled which then calls all users in a defined group and plays a custom message.

Has anyone looked into this?

It would be good if Notify has a cloud offering but with it needing to be connected to the server at the site, remote users aren't going to be notified.

Thanks in advance

A dedicated system that is different from all other drilled emergency procedures is one that is likely to fail in unexpected ways. Look to existing procedures where the central team are notified as a matter of urgency, and re-use that.

I expect it would look something like: A nominated member of the SIRT for each site phone's (and email's) it in. With multiple deputies for this role with a robust method for identifying whether the expected member of the sirt has/is able to complete this task and how it cascades if they are unavailable. You should probably not use a dedicated number, but one that is, in fact, used frequently (therefore well known and manned/monitored the most), and the team who might receive that call/email are trained on how to handle the initial report.

Yeah, I have recommended this already. Cyber Response Plan / schools emergency planning already contains contact info etc.

It just needs to be a formalised process and built into procedure.

Thanks again

Do you have any access control system in place?

We use Paxton Net2, you can trigger ‘lockdown’ to lock all of the doors on site.

Within triggers and actions, you could create an item ‘when lockdown is activated’ then ‘send an email’ which could go to a distribution list as a method to notify the MAT.

Our plan is "follow the critical incident plan":

Contact mobile numbers of middle and senior leadership at school and trust level are available to all other school and trust senior and middle leaders via the critical incident plan.

Something happens, whoever has 30 seconds texts or calls the appropriate person to get outside help or at least loop them in so they don't get an inaccurate account from someone being "helpful".
