If it doesn't support it, it may actually use a different tool and command set. If you risk installing it, it could **** itself incredibly hard (though I imagine it'll have failsafes to hard prevent you from doing it).

Time to upgrade SQL. No way round it.

Yep we are in the same boat having to upgrade before we can do the summer update, and it has to be done before the end of September 2025.  They said that data had to be synched with next gen to be able to do the summer update as well, but in previous documentation it said this didn't need to be done before Summer 2026 (census time).  Me thinks they are changing the goal posts.

I can think of a few options:

Arbor, Bromcom, iSAMs

:) :) :)

Hypothetically...

What if you just installed the latest SIMS Summer 2025 update... on SQL 2012... because you were under the impression you were on at least 2014, but that didn't matter anyway because of the 2014+ requirement...

HYPOTHETICALLY of course...

SQL 2014 has been EOL for a year. Regardless of what SIMS supports, you're not applying security patches and this is a cyber security risk.

There is an in place instance upgrade option within the SQL installer. I did this when I upgraded SQL on our SIMS server.

If you're on a VM then snapshot first but it should be a lot less scary than you are possibly imagining.

this is what i am doing at the moment on our five sims servers, but also make sure you have upgraded to the latest service pack before you attempt the upgrade and possible uninstall the old obdc and ole drivers
