I tried not to celebrate too much when I paid mine off.  Even so some of the major appliances somehow got wind of it.  Wound up having to replace the entire HVAC system, the stove, and the lawn tractor just to name a few.  It wasn't that painful though because I didn't have that bank note anymore.

 

Go somewhere far away from the house and have a party to be safe.

I had to specify "lawn tractor" because I am the only one on my road that doesn't own a full size tractor.  My motorcycle addiction does prevent me from being frugal from time to time.

Just bought a Ryobi cordless. Much quicker as you don't have no worry about the wire. Can be set to collect or, if you mow regularly, mulch.

Some while ago  a friend said "B&Q are jobbing out baby Flymos like they're going out of fashion".

 

I think it was c£20.  AT LEAST 20 years ago - (whispers in case it hears) still going fine.

They're quite reliable! It's just oh god, the lack of power, the clogging, the handles, the plastic.

 

My temper can be spectacular (and amusing if observing). I beat my Flymo strimmer to death and snapped it in half, and put my foot through the deck of the mower. I didn't do that out of love. Also didn't regret it.

Our Toro petrol mower does recycling (mulching) and it's a godsend for a big garden not having to empty the cuttings every two rows. It still takes me an hour.

Around here we tend to use John Deere (on the way out for working folks), Kubota, and Cub Cadet.  I cheaped out and got this little guy last time.  I really should have ponied up and got a Kubota with a bucket to keep the driveway in shape, but that would have eaten into the Harley fund.

Our trusty Honda petrol mower does same, but still takes 2 hours..

Plus one for Kubota and Toro machinery. That stuff will survive WW3. Used both in a former life when looking after school grounds rather than IT.... there are days I miss that simpler quieter life 😄

No, because we would need more than one unless they can open gates, but, have seen two gardens in Scotland using them this week. One was using Husqvarna robots and the lawn looked really good. I think it was using GPS rather than wires.  The edges were still finished by hand though.
