I never found an answer to this. By the end I was tearing my hair out – our weekly loss of kit was massive (ans somehow it was alway my fault?)

Other kit suffered too. When we were renewing a room, the decision was taken to go with "smart desks" (the ones that have closing lids to hide the keyboard, mouse and monitor, and where the base unit is enclosed in a steel, locked shell)

The sales pitch posited that "... we have given this to squaddies and told them to do their worst. There was nothing they could do."

By the end of the first week of going live in the room, three desks and computers had been seriously damaged. It only got worse from there.

:classic_sad:

I had desks like that once in a previous school. The students would place the mouse on the keyboard and then close the lid, this particular design didn't allow room to do that so all the monitors got cracked.

Bookable rooms without an allocated main teacher will always be a poopshow. Without someone taking direct ownership you're fighting against the tide.

Yes it's really frustrating - Especially as you can spend an hour sorting a room out only for it to get trashed 5 minutes later then grumbles of "IT is rubbish"

This is the same story with laptops. I've seen a few with the Trackpad completely destroyed leading to at least an hour repair job. I jus put them in a pile and got around to them eventually, no one moaned at me for not dropping everything else to repair them.

This was always annoying. You'd get some sort of abrupt and/or condescending email/phone call/ticket which was always along the lines of "This is affecting Teaching and Learning, it needs sorting out right now or we can't teach!" and my responses were usually "Well this is the first we've heard of it. If we'd known before, it'd been sorted by now but unfortunately we're not always told in a timely manner. We'll try and sort it ASAP but we can't make guarantees if we're not in the loop." or something similar.
