Net2 Door Reader Not Reading Cards

Had a power cut today and after the dust had settled we found one of the door card readers was not reading Net2 cards.

 

The reader LEDs are on and it bleeps when presenting a card but it doesn’t open the door and the event log for the door doesn’t show any cards were read. The door opens fine from the Net2 software so could the reader be faulty?
 

I’ve powered the reader off and on but it still doesn’t recognise any cards however, the reader looks old and not like any reader I’ve seen before.

After a powercut sometimes you need to push/re-instate the doors settings back to the ACU for it to kick back into action

We have a couple of doors that often do this - never really worked out why.

Does the reader beep but the three LEDs remain static? If so a re-instate usually sorts that

Power down the ACU

Worth checking if the ACU is battery backed up - if it isn't, get it done, it's a cheap upgrade. If it is, power cycle it being sure to remove the battery when you do

Def re-instate the controller in the software first.  If it is the only reader on that door then try moving it to the second reader port on the controller (don't forget to configure reader 2 in the software)

I've not seen a Net2 reader like this before.

I was also going to say this, it looks like one of the ones from the old switch2 controllers, which aren't compatible with net2.  Post implies it previously worked before the power cut though?

I'm thinking of the one that looks similar but much smaller, never come across that particular one before.

Thanks everyone. The reinstate did it although it took longer than it should as I couldn't find the reinstate button! Next time I'll look at the bottom of the screen as well and not just along the top buttons.

 

As for the battery backup, it was that high up I needed a ladder and then there was no battery in there just the PSU and space where the battery should go.

I've had to reinstate the reader 3 more times today as it keeps failing. It runs fine for an hour or two then stops working so I'm starting to think the power cut somehow damaged it.

Does sound like it might be knackered, but worth swapping it to reader 2 port on the controller (and setting this up in the software) if you only have 1 reader and just a release button the other side.
