The first Mac did come out in 1984, and its predecessors like the Lisa were out before so it is possible that someone has used them for 40+ years.

 

My first Mac was a 20" iMac which ran Leopard. Must have been about 2008/2009 when I bought that thing.

Mac OS for personal use ( due to Logic Pro).I use a Windows Server 2025 vm for work allows me to test it as well

Windows 11 Pro at home and Enterprise at work. Had no issues with either of them, everything I need works.

At home I have Windows 10 on a 2015 Dell XPS. Still runs like a dream!

 

I'll be sad when Windows 10 goes EOL. 

 

At work, the company is all MacOS

That was my move to Linux, in school and home. I was tempted by all the miracles that windows 7 would bring, but in the end it didn't ring true and I made a better move (and career) with Linux.

All machines at home run Windows 11 Pro. I liked Windows 7 but my first Windows based was 2000Pro - loved that.

Update on my last post; I've moved to Ubuntu on my home PC, having looked at support for games these days. Been running it now for a few days and just wish I'd made this move sooner!

For me Windows XP is my preferred OS - but then that's because I have several hundred Windows XP era laptops to tinker around with 🤣 but for modern day use Windows 11 all the way.

Jus gone bac to MAC at home, I tried Linux for about a year then went back to Windows 10. I haven't bought myself a new PC in absolute years, probably in the 90's and jus bought 2nd hand and installed my own OS (too much bloatware) but now it seems Windows is jus as much bloated with loads of crud I don't want. As I do mostly creative work at home the MAC suited me and I'm well happy with it.

 

Work we are still running W10 but I don't deal with that side jus the network side, thankfully 🙂

Yep defo a consideration. I only ever got into MAC because a school I worked at they wanted to use MACs for Video but.....???? Back then the only other thing they used was Windows Movie Maker which was a car crash.

Got real tired of Microsoft's BS with Windows 11, so finally wiped my personal laptop and installed Zorin OS several weeks ago. It was a choice between Debian, Mint and Zorin OS, and I opted for the latter. It's almost akin to the look of Windows 10/11, so navigating around isn't bothersome.

 

Additionally, I've installed VS Code and PowerShell and it's been pretty good thus far. Although the laptop is 4 years old, it no longer sounds like a jet engine taking off. The laptop is so deadly silent you'd mistake it for being powered off. CPU usage is barely hovering over 8% and RAM usage is 2.5GB/16GB - and that's with Brave browser open with 24 tabs open, terminal and Libre Office Writer. And what's more is that the laptop remains cool during use and doesn't overheat like it used to when it was Windows 10 and later Windows 11 when it was upgraded last year.

 

In the past I had always found myself going back to Windows 7/10 when trying different Linux flavours, but on this occasion I am finding myself sticking with it.

Don't get me started on Windows 8/2012 🙄 I know why they did it was to create a uniform experience between Windows Mobile/Tablets but really. Everytime I have to go on on a Windows 2012 server I cringe.
