Managed printer supplier

Hi all,

 

Hope you are well.

 

Does anyone know of a good manage print supplier that could serve the Gloucestershire area? I have quotes from Konica and Sharp but looking for 1 more (financial regs). I have tried contacting Ricoh but never had an answer back?

I can't recommend a good one, but I can strongly recommend you don't go anywhere near Alto-Digital!

Are there any good ones? Or only okay/could be worse/better the devil you know ones?

We've had plenty of different one's over the last 18 years. Its always the same story, promise the world at tender point, deliver something short of that at contract start date, by mid term you are finding yourself wondering how these guys are any better than the previous ones and at the end of the term, you swear to never go near them again.

 

They are all the same, I would recommend our incumbent, but I am not happy with them. I think you just need to go with the cheapest and at least you can tell yourself you are not being fleeced.

We’re direct with Sharp. Generally very happy with service we receive

We renewed with Kyocera (direct, via framework).

 

It's early days but our finance dept is much happier they don't have to deal with the previous supplier, the kit's decent, techs are (by all accounts - haven't met one yet) polite and knowledgeable and *touch wood* Kyocera are yet to do anything that would endanger their chances of contract renewal.

We deal with both Konica and Kyocera directly via framework. (Konica for repro and Kyocera general printing)

 

Would recommend both tbh engineer call-outs have been pretty on it the past 12 months.

^ Typically your school business manager / finance director / bursar (if you're old-school) will have experience using frameworks for other things and you should work with them (at least the first time round).

 

We use the CPC framework (https://www.thecpc.ac.uk/members - you may even find your school already on there), the Crown Commerical frameworks (https://www.crowncommercial.gov.uk/agreements/RM6174 for example) and we've also used NHS frameworks that we're eligible for (network hardware mostly).

Commercial - based in Cheltenham - are a good local dealer (I know Stephen Lockyer there). I'm not sure of the whole range of manufacturers they sell, but they definitely do Canon, and I know of a couple of schools they've supplied if you want references.
