Just started on the new Black Mirror episodes, only seen the first couple but thought they were pretty decent, hope the rest are good too - they can be a bit hit n miss.

My home office has the sun hitting it all day, I had the curtains drawn yesterday to try and shield myself a bit which worked but.....messed with my circadian somewhat with it being dark all day except for trips to the kitchen for coffee and lunch when I was blinded and baked around the rest of the house!

eeeeeek - Sorry, wasn`t expecting the pics to come out that big!

I asked AI to draft up an Ayrton Senna tribute livery for my Mk 1 Ford Puma as a means to getting some ideas.......pretty impressed with its suggestion but it was too difficult to deal with the vinyl so we settled on a couple of easy to cut and stick stripes 🙂

Where do you store your password list
Millgate_Jon replied to maxrebo's topic in How do you do....it?
We use 1Password here at Millgate - Mixed feedback depending on the user you ask......... -
ESET are currently proving the most popular through our clients - They have a 70% off RRP thing for new EDU, given it`s normally 35% you`ll see it`s a hefty chunk. Happy to share more info.........just message me rather than reply on thread. Thanks Jon.

Yeah I`m sorry about the short notice - I guess it`s more for people that were going anyway and then would they like to join us for a bit of a social afterwards thats all. I think the space we have booked can handle about 50 people and we`ve got space for more to attend so thought we`d open it up to Edugeek folk too 🙂 Thanks Jon.

I wasn`t sure which forum to put this in as the DTX show covers most if not all the categories........ Millgate aren`t exhibiting directly but will be at the event supporting our partners. If you aren`t aware of the DTX show, you can get more info here......... https://www.dtxevents.io/ In addition though - Millgate have hired a venue round the corner for after show drinks, bites and games - to help with the wait for train home or just to keep you entertained a little longer. Even if you aren`t a client of Millgates already, thats OK, we`d still love to meet you. If any of you want to come along to Millgate after party, please sign up using the link below and then message me on Edugeek so I can tell our admin team who you are (if you aren`t on our system as a client they`ll get confused!) https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/millgates-dtx-after-event-networking-games-at-electric-shuffle-tickets-1249291577739?aff=oddtdtcreator Maybe see you there! Thanks Jon.

Hi Everyone Having been off for a week I`m catching up on this thread all in one go and would`ve liked to respond to a few comments individually but for the sake of practicality I`ll say a few things here instead. I appreciate all your comments, some of them have opened my eyes to things I wasn`t aware of which is healthy for all manner of reasons - so thank you for those. Someone said they thought Halo would be worse for GDPR than a CCTV system, I`m curious as to why they think that given Halo doesn`t record anything other than environmental data. Bullying was also mentioned and someone said that Halo can`t help with that - well it can. There are aggression sensors/parameters in place along with keyword or phrase recognition which can activate a bespoke response in real time. CCTV is great after the fact - Halo alerts `at the moment of` which from a safeguarding point of view is, in my opinion much more valuable. The same goes for the medical emergency element - I have real life examples of students using the "HELP EMERGENCY" function of Halo. There is a lot more to Halo than just Vape - Which is why I bang the drum and hope to get as many installed as possible, is it an advert? Well kind of I suppose yes - No harm in that. Any one with any questions or wants further info, just drop me a line. Thanks Jon.

Hi Everyone Was shocked to read this just now: https://www.lbc.co.uk/news/school-slammed-installing-cctv-deterrent-pupil-toilets-clamp-down-vaping/ I know there are always things to consider that I`m not aware of however......please don`t put CCTV in toilets - it`s not a good way to stop kids vaping........... We`ve got our fleet of Halo sensors available for onsite trials and demo`s if you are curious about their capabilities.... With anti-bullying measures, aggression policies, crowding/loitering alerts - they do a lot more than detect vape molecules! Just drop me a line, happy to help. Thanks Jon.

Hi Nothing bad to say about any of the above brands but the name I`d throw in for consideration would be Vestel - They have made screens for the likes of Panasonic and Phillips (so know what they are doing) in the past but are now going out under their own name. As a strategy to grab market share their deals are incredible - for a simple, solid, reliable and incredibly well priced screen - certainly worth a look. Cheers Jon.

SHAMELESS PROMO ALERT >>>> In December we are having a big push on our Breakfix services so if you do have any infrastructure hardware (servers, switches, storage arrays) that is outside of manufacturers warranty - we can cover it on a NBD Guaranteed Fix contract. Fraction of the price of the manufacturers version of the same thing and can help with planning/budgeting if any of that kit scheduled to be refreshed has actually got some life left in it and doesn`t actually need replacing just yet. All we need is the make, model and serial number and we can quote - drop me a line if you`ve any questions........happy to help. Thanks Jon.
-
Hi If you need a quick turnaround on quotes please drop me a line - we can price up all the major vendors for you. Lenovo and Dell are the most popular Chromebooks we supply however it`s ASUS that gets the best feedback from clients, mainly for their after sales care and warranty efficiency. Happy to help if you need me...... Thanks Jon.
-
Probably best to contact the supplier I would have thought, they`ll likely have support from Genee and can get it sorted for you.
-
All good then - don`t be a stranger though if we can help with anything. Cheers Jon.

Hi Sean I`ve got a direct line into Inventry support, if you need any help please PM me and I`ll see what we can do. Thanks Jon.

Hi We have a couple of partners to help our clients with Managed Print but Brother tend to win the contracts with our EDU clients due to specific rates for EDU clients. It`s a simple process if you`d like us to take a look and put a proposal together for you? Just drop me a line. Thanks Jon.

Hi Everyone Good news >> After a lot of hoop jumping we are now accepted as one of HP`s Brighter Futures partners. This is a great achievement for Millgate as there are a very limited number of HP partners accepted onto the program (less than 25 in the UK). For those that don`t know, the program entitles us to get much better buy prices on HP computing hardware (desktops and laptops) as well as cashback options for trade in kit. I hope anyone in the market for new kit will come and ask us to quote...... Thanks Jon.

I`ve seen a security system that has a workaround for audio........ the system listens, but doesnt record. Some kind of magic happens and then the AI system in the cloud tells the admin what was said, or what it heard - but nothing has been recorded. Clever or sneaky.......? not for me to say
-
As we supply all the major vendors we get to keep note of the failure rates/returns rates etc. In terms of DOA - The best performers are Dell and Lenovo, if you are looking at a sizey order then thats worth considering. in terms of warranty claims in the first 12 months - HP and Lenovo perform the best In terms of customer satisfaction regarding warranty claims (time taken to resolve, communication, value etc..) Then HP & Lenovo lead by a long way. I`m sure everyone has their own individual experience but the above is what we see in terms of trends across many orders over time. Hope it`s a help :-) Cheers Jon.

[ipad] iPad Air Case Recommendations
Millgate_Jon replied to Brax's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
The most popular we supply for staff are the Logitech cases but for students we recommend the Basilisk cases, they have the same ruggedness ratings as the Griffin Survivor series but are about half the price! -
Hi Everyone I could be in the market for some 55" Smartboards - Not sure on the model exactly but if you`ve got anything circa 6 years old and 55" you are considering retiring, please drop me a line....... Thanks Jon.

Hi Might be able to help with this, we have some older stock from RMA`s we can`t sell but we try to keep our charitable work relatively local. I see your profile says Widnes, is that still the case and I presume the foodbank is over that way too? We are Sheffield based but I can always ask for you........ Cheers Jon.
