kennysarmy Posted September 23, 2024 Posted September 23, 2024 We'd like to block access to a few unsavoury fonts on DAFonts.com Eg https://www.dafont.com/theme.php?cat=718 I've created a category popped in the above URL and put it at the top of my web filter policies but the page is still accessible Any ideas?
Rob_D Posted September 23, 2024 Posted September 23, 2024 Have you got SSL decryption set to "decrypt an inspect" for the dafont domain?
kennysarmy Posted September 23, 2024 Author Posted September 23, 2024 Have you got SSL decryption set to "decrypt an inspect" for the dafont domain? Yep :/ First line from Smoothwall can't work it out either - being sent on to 2nd line to investigate.
Joeloman Posted September 23, 2024 Posted September 23, 2024 What happens if you use Categories Search tools? In Maiden, the content filter also appears... As you can see, this site is classified as porn in our system and yes is blocked for the clients.
kennysarmy Posted September 25, 2024 Author Posted September 25, 2024 Fixed by Smoothwall 2nd line. 1
sigma Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 Category alerted to Netsweeper. Anyone on SBB will need to add a decrypt://dafonts.com to their appropriate list if not using mandatory inspection.....
DeGrimmy Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 Fixed by Smoothwall 2nd line. Could you post a screenshot of the URLs in those categories please? I've just had a request to unblock DaFont for students and I'd like to sort out the same for our Smoothwall. Thanks!
sigma Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 Netsweeper have put it in th "Adult Mixed Content" bucket

kennysarmy Posted October 7, 2024 Author Posted October 7, 2024 That has worked perfectly, thanks! I've also blocked the Forum (dafont.com/forum) just in case. Not that perfectly the students have found a way around the block! If they append a search string behind the block page they are allowed to view the site: https://www.dafont.com/theme.php?cat=718&text=Wildlifepals should work, even though https://www.dafont.com/theme.php?cat=718 is still blocked. I'm having my ticket reopened with Smoothwall.
Rob_D Posted October 7, 2024 Posted October 7, 2024 At what point is it just easier to block the whole site? At least until the kids move on to something else. It's not like downloading fancy fonts is part of the curriculum. 2

It's not like downloading fancy fonts is part of the curriculum. It's a fair point. At this point, they might just have to put up with what is already there. I pointed our Media Studies teachers to Google Fonts instead, but I don't know if they've directed the students there or not. 1
