soapyfish Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 Is anyone else seeing an issue where a user goes to open another users mailbox using the "Open Another Mailbox" feature in the web version of Outlook 365 and it just opens another version of the users mailbox rather than the mailbox requested? This seems to be happening to multiple users. The permissions are correct unless something has changed that I have noticed! Thanks 1

Strangely enough works fine when opening in Edge, but getting that exact error when opening in Chrome. Interestingly, there are a few users who are fine opening in Chrome on both Mac and Windows. Can't really pinpoint the issue...
soapyfish Posted February 29, 2024 Author Posted February 29, 2024 We are seeing the issue in Edge and Chrome unfortunately
sparker1977 Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 Yes same thing with us, I went into the browser settings and cleared the cache/browser history and this seems to have rectified the issue for us
EssentialRug Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 We are seeing the issue in Edge and Chrome unfortunately Just as I sent that...others now having the issue in Chrome and Edge. Some users able to get into it in Edge and some not at all. I've just reported the issue in M365 admin centre health as couldn't see it listed there. - - - Updated - - - Yes same thing with us, I went into the browser settings and cleared the cache/browser history and this seems to have rectified the issue for us We tried this but still no good...
soapyfish Posted February 29, 2024 Author Posted February 29, 2024 Clearing Cache and History, does not seem to work for us. The use of a incognito session or the installation and use of a previously unused browser also does not seem to fix it.
kennysarmy Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 Right clicking FOLDERS in your folder listings gives the option to add shared mailbox which is still working. 2
sparker1977 Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 Oddly it worked for one user then another I cleared the cookies etc in chrome and still had the issue but worked straight away in Edge. Sorry must have gotten lucky with one user!
Aprice Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 Same here, clearing the cache did seem to sort it.
tdk1069 Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 Hi. Collogue here has found that when opening another mailbox the @ is replaced with the encoded %40 (ie https://outlook.office.com/mail/mailbox%40domain.com not https://outlook.office.com/mail/[email protected]) manually changing the %40 to @ opens the mailbox. Has been tested here on several users/mailboxes and computers. 1
robintech Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 Yes same here, luckily was also a shared mailbox
nwkeene Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 Its now appeared in our Microsoft Service Health pages... they're investigating...
foofighterjim Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 (edited) Lifesaver, I have just got into one of my primary schools and they are reporting the same, I even got them to use an Incognito window on my laptop (not even connect to their domain) and got the same, I'll give the two aforementioned solutions a try. Edit: Just checked with the users and it is working again now. Edited February 29, 2024 by foofighterjim
itmanager___ Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 Had the same exact issue at one of my schools, weird that only 1 school was affected ...hmmm.. Just commenting to inform you that the issue has been fixed, and staff are able to access the shared mailbox which opens in a new tab.
drewp Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 Is anyone seeing a problem with the desktop version of outlook not being able to access mailboxes that are shared with the user? Seem that new messages are arriving, the unread message count increases but the messages are not being shown. Logon to the mailbox that is being shared with the user and the messages are there... Have rasied a ticket to MS but thought that it might be related to this problem of opening shared mailboxes...
