Great, I love new server releases but expect software vendors like ESS to support this for Sims in 2097 [emoji849]

 

Had to call them the other day to check my Sims DB for the first time in 10 years due to poor performance and turned out to be a cr@ppy patch they released but the consultant lectured me about their support roadmap and how they don't support server 2022 yet.

 

Couldn't be bothered to tell him I've had it installed for nearly 3 years and faced 0 issues.

 

Looking at their roadmap apparently they only support office 2016 still and are only just about to support office LTSC and have been forced to support office 365 due to so many clients having it. [emoji23]

Bingo....servers have to be connected to the Azure Arc service which requires defender plan 2. At least that's what i've read on /r/sysadmin recently. Whether that remains the case upon release is anyones guess.

2025 can take a running jump for a few years!

I have just installed 2022 on one server and had to run winver to check I hadn't used the 2019 image by mistake from my first look at it.

Me too. Did an inplace upgrade on Monday. Twook 2019 to 2022. Worked a treat. Couldn't be bothered with a clean install.

Man after my own heart, clean installs while being the best option are not feasible sometimes due to time, numbers of servers etc...

 

I've done plenty of in-place upgrades without issues and some with, however that's what good backup/restore solutions are for [emoji6]

Yeah - I had to do it during the work day. Moved our virtual machines to one side of the cluster, drained, evicted, upgraded, rejoined - checked. Moved second server in the same way.

 

Upgraded cluster level; updated all VM configuration level. Checked CAU was working.

 

Rhan cluster check

 

Backed up

 

Done.

 

Nobody knew anything different.
