HDMI connected projectors - No Signal

We have regular calls to classrooms with no signal to projector. Unplug/Plug HDMI cable and it usually comes to life. We have put in 7.5m or 10m in some rooms '4K HDMI 2.1' cables by CableDirect'. The HDMI cable market is a minefield of good/bad quality. Anyone had 100% success with a brand? How about optical/active?

 

The projectors are decent quality Epson HD.

Honestly Amazon Basics have proven to be the most consistently reliable for us.

 

Their 10m was the *only* one that worked every time we used it. It is no longer available We're buying Lindy for our 10m now at 5 times the price, these are also 100% reliable but much bulkier.

10m is the limit for standard HDMI, I've seen many fail before that. Not sure if there is really any rhyme or reason for what works/doesn't at longer lengths.

we do have issues with the projector going to blue screen when they are using PowerPoint and then select 'freeze' on the projector.

yeah we had issues with presenter mode cutting out projector output, even if the laptop was on duplicate. MS trying to be clever for their own good yet again... when a user would close powerpoint the HDMI output would shut off and the user would need to re-enable HDMI out again. Dumb.

They present a consistent HDMI 1.4 device to the computer in question.

 

This has solved a wide variety of issues including cables that are marginally over length/not very good, devices that can't negotiate an HDMI connection fast enough, computers that keep turning a device off randomly & devices that interpret an HDMI signal with a massive display overscan

Have you ever had this issue with DP rather than HDMI?

 

We get a similar issue on some older Fujitsu desktops with DP to VGA cables.... initially thought it was power settings on the DP port

Optical ones tend to be the most reliable for us.

 

The Acer PCs we've got don't seem to work reliably with anything over 1-2M copper.

We've had exactly the same issue here and the problem turned out to be if the PPT was put into full screen/present mode before the screen was turned on then if Freeze was selected on the screen remote or the presentation finished and came out of full screen/present mode the signal was cut to the screen on the wall. If the PPt isn't made full screen before the screen is switched on there is no problem.

I've had the same with Amazon Basics, I've replaced some of our trunked cabling with Amazon Basics HDMI with great success. I was as surprised as anyone that these were the more reliable!
