BluenoteSmiley Posted March 14, 2023 Posted March 14, 2023 Hi We received and email from Wonde informing us that the current serice is now Wonde Premium and they now offer a Wonde Basic service that will be free, but I cannot find anywhere that shows what Wonde Basic will provide and whether or not it is good enough for the school to continue using for the connector to their MIS. Has anyone ese received this email or does anyone know of a comprehensive list comparing the two? Thanks Steve
MancTech Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 I managed to find the difference in subscription in our Wonde portal. Its under settings > Wonde license. I think we'll be downgrading to the free version as we don't use any of the premium features.
sister_annex Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 I'd be careful with this, as they tried to invoice us for premium after the 'trial period had run out' - we had not signed up for this, changed to Basic in the portal and still got a bill. It was sorted as a clerical error in the end but one to watch for, more for the switching us to Premium without our knowledge EDIT: I also think, making 2FA a paid for addition a bit sly too!
localzuk Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 Is this not double dipping then? As they charge suppliers for the service in the first place? So, now they will charge us for something companies are already paying for?
DrCheese Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 Is this not double dipping then? As they charge suppliers for the service in the first place? So, now they will charge us for something companies are already paying for? Seems that way - Bunch of Grifters. We're already "paying" for it in our license fees to the companies that use it.
Mr.Ben Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 The 2FA being 'Premium' is unforgivable imho Hopefully it will encourage some companies to ensure they have full provisioning/login capabilities with Azure/Google to do away with this sort of crap 1
jthompson Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 Maybe everything in the edutech sector should be forced to adopt Ofsted terminology. Wonde Good Vs Wonde Inadequate. 3
bobsmith Posted March 22, 2023 Posted March 22, 2023 Outside of this thread I can't find anything about Wonde Premium anywhere. Google can't find it, Wonde's own website has nothing about it either. My admin console doesn't have any subscription info either. Got any links about this? 1

mthomas08 Posted March 22, 2023 Posted March 22, 2023 Ditto. Same I see the approved/disapproved apps, some basic settings and that's it. Unless this is pure free version and nothing to do with the premium. I sign in as a teacher using the usual magic link method.
howartp Posted March 22, 2023 Posted March 22, 2023 I've just emailed Support and asked the question, and asked permission to share the response. They're usually pretty quick at responding.
sister_annex Posted March 22, 2023 Posted March 22, 2023 (edited) The only way I've found to get access is to log in to Wonde, and use the url: https://school.wonde.com/YOURSCHOOLNAME/settings/upgrade ours also does have a big 'BASIC' label next to the wonde logo in the top left corner Edited March 22, 2023 by sister_annex 2

We're still Basic Can't see a link to it anywhere else in the UI though. Weird that this change is only showing for certain customers. Maybe they're introducing it gradually.
bobsmith Posted March 23, 2023 Posted March 23, 2023 Using your link (thanks!) we're basic too. £350 to upgrade but the list of "premium" items are not of any interest to me.
DrCheese Posted March 23, 2023 Posted March 23, 2023 Gating 2fa behind premium is stupid. They suffer from users being hacked just as much as the user, so you'd think it would be in their interest to get everyone on 2fa.
jthompson Posted March 23, 2023 Posted March 23, 2023 What is the 2FA for, though? It's not like you can get at any MIS data directly from the school account side of things. From an app devloper account, yes, but I don't think that's what this Basic vs Premium thing is referring to.
howartp Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 Just got a reply: Hi Peter, I hope you’re well. Thank you for your email. Wonde is committed to helping all schools securely manage their data. Wonde Basic will always be free for schools to manage the approval of third party applications who access MIS data through Wonde. Thank you for informing us about the thread on Edugeek. With regards to 2 factor authentication this is also included within Wonde Basic and we have updated the Wonde platform to make this clear. We would be very happy to have a call should you have any queries and to understand your feedback on Wonde in general. coolhands Posted March 30, 2023 Posted March 30, 2023 (edited) Hate companies like this. That link now has a ‘403 THIS FEATURE IS NOT YET AVAILABLE’ so presume they’ve switched it off. I can’t find my license details anywhere inc trying to follow one of the previous posts that said it’s: under settings > Wonde license Edited March 30, 2023 by coolhands
Dos_Box Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 I've just had a little dicky-bird tell me that Wonde will be making the access control feature in the Wonde Basic product permanetly available, and at no cost for schools. Apparently there was some problem where it looked like they would be changing it, but this would then make them the data controller and not the school, which means...well, you can fill in the blanks. 2
GrumbleDook Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 It was Claire Archibald, DPO and Service Manager, Education Data Hub, who chased this down and got the result. If anyone needs more info she is happy to have anyone contact her at [email protected] 2
