Been asked by the head to research tablet PCs for him. No idea what sort of spec/pricing.

So any recommendations on good tablet PCs for a member of staff to use would be appreciated. Think he just wants ideas for now so cost isn't that much of an issue until they decide on one.

Thanks in advance

If you want a small hand held PC, then take a look at the Samsung q1s

There pretty pricey, but very good. :)

Erm.. supose though it really depends what you want to use them tablets for?

Word of warning on tablet PCs, they are OK funtionality wise, but in my experience, they are not the best choice for praticality in a school because;

a) the pens go missing far too frequently if you use them as tablets, so you need deep pockets to keep buying spares. Even though they only cost about £10 each, it soon adds up when you're buying multiples of them.

b) if you use the clip on keyboards, they get damaged very easily, or if the tablet PC you choose has a ruberised keyboard, kids pick the keys out meaning expensive repairs.

It does depend on the school of course, that is my schools experience with tablet PCs and we won't be buying any more. We have over 100 of them and they are geting old now, we struggle to keep them all working. Obviously if your students are a little more sensible that ours, they might work in your environment.

Our head has had two.

Toshiba Portege M200

Toshiba Portege M400

And she's had no problems with either the School Manager has her 5 year old M200 now and its still working with no problems at all.
