'Casting' PC display to multiple iPads

Morning,

 

I have teacher that needs to be able to project the image from her Windows PC to several iPads in her classroom.

 

Any ideas ?

Does she not have a screen in her classroom? Much easier to just plug this into the screen?

We had a similar request before lockdown for a partically sighted student, so went down the Teams route as alternatives suggested by the LA team were VNC (No due to Data Security since users could connect at any time and see SIMS/ClassCharts etc that isn't being displayed if a screen is frozen but none of the other schools they had suggested it to had any issues with it) or Apple AirPlay

The teacher does have a Smart board, but as with Boredguy's comment above, there is a specific requirement for three visually impaired pupils to be able to view the displayed image on their iPads.

 

I'll have a look at the Teams route; failing that, there do seem to be various third party apps available that might help, but not an immediate, or free, option.

She could air drop the image to their ipads

Will that allow a Windows display to be shared to the iPads ? I though that was only available on IOS devices.

A copy of the image would have to be on the teachers.

Another option would have the resource in shared onedrive folder ie teachers folder, the children then could access the shared one driver folder and open the resource

anotehr option would have the image uploaded to a QR creator website (https://me-qr.com/) and then children open image by scanning qr code

We did this with Teams for this specific reason - in fact, it's why I set up Teams in 2019. That rather helped a few months later.

Teams would be a much easier route, you won't have to worry about if the devices are on different vlans/networks, can setup groups etc for the students. Keep it simple is my moto these days as long as it is secure.

Yep Teams is soo much easier.

 

As we just had the 1 student we created a Team that all of their teachers were in so they didn't have to switch between different ones for each subject.

If your students are all in the same class all the time, then something similar might be easy to setup.

Staff can then choose to share just a single application, so even if they have the main screen image frozen to deal with other tasks such as registers/behaviour etc the students are still only seeing that same image the other students are. Just needs staff to ensure they don't tick the "Share Whole Screen" option
