I think this is a great idea, not only were RM a very good hardware manufacturer, but we had found that their kit was very well thought out with education firmly in the forefront of their designs.

I still remember quite clearly when (waaaaay back thataway <------) a member had reported that one of their RM One PC's had caught fire, and the reaction of members was 'But RM machines don't catch fire!', such was their reputation.

And, if you are older, like me, you'll remember the very early RM computers in your schools. I'm all for preserving this kind of IT heritage, and if any of you do have any old RM kit laying around in store rooms pending disposal, then please think about donating them.

I understand that there's an area at Bletchley Park with a load of RM kit. It was set up by my ex head of IT from when I first started in schools IT back in '95.

There is but unfortunately not on display. Wasn’t a chap called Pete?

Interesting, do you know any more about this? Is it in Bletchley Park, or the computing museum?

I wouldn't dare donate any of our RM kit... Only because most of it is still in use! :p

The 2nd, 3rd and 4th gen i3 CPUs may be struggling a little now, but I can't deny that it's stood the test of time!

This made me chuckle! Coming from an ICT Tech myself, I can completely relate... if it works don't touch it right?! Of course, in reality, this comes down to budgets but in the school, I work in, they still have many RM computers still in circulation.

I was keeping a 380z for just this kind of thing but it got blooming thrown out in a big bunch of room refurbs they did a while back. Absoloutly gutted.

Nooo! I did my Computer Science O Level on one of those.

I've got a big box I keep in the server room which has a lot of RM Connect 2.x era stuff. Have a soft spot for that system, so much so in my student days at college I paid my lecturer £50 to sneak into the college server room, nab the RM Connect install discs, copy them and give to me so I could have RM Connect on my home network. Also got 2 RM 386 PC's I've refused to chuck for the last 18 years here, though cases are yellowing a little. Not a fan of RM after that era, but Connect 2.4 and earlier was very useful for managing Windows 9x clients.

Evening! If your feeling generous we would love a copy of the ISOs. I’m sure we could give you a mention on the page.

Also do you have software for your 386s? If not I’m sure we can help.

Hi Harry,

It seems you have 2 accounts with Discord. You will have to try and login to your original account associated with your number or try and contact Discord Support. Sadly, there isn't much we can do as it's not something we control within our Discord Server, but rather your personal account with Discord.

Hopefully your able to login and verify to join us.

Will have to see if I can find those , I put them somewhere safe a few years ago and we know what putting something somewhere safe usually means.
