Hi all,

We have a load of old HP and Cisco kit which is redundant but still holds a fair bit of value.

We use recycling firms to dispose of old PCs etc but don't have any experience with trying to sell kit on (in a hands off and pain free way)

If any of you have done this before and could recommend and particular vendors/companies that would be very welcome indeed. :D

Oh please don't suggest Ebay!!!

TIA!

Got the same problem here, school/council rules and regs forbid ebay paypal etc. Got probably thousands of quids worth of stuff we can't easily sell. Recycling companies offer peanuts for them.

It might be worth contacting the manufacturer. HP took a load of redundant networking kit of my hands and paid us for the privilege.

Hi all,

Have you considered giving/selling to charities. We are a charity collecting used IT/Visual devices and support schools and communities in Africa. We are a charity so don't expect too much money as of market value. We love free stuff as we still have to incur a lot of cost to ship these abroad.

My experience has so far been that it is more trouble than it is worth. Once you consider VAT and pickup. I think one sale it ended up costing us money and one we managed to just break even. With the faff it would have been easier to just get a recycling company in.

Also, what we think is residual value, what the leasing company may think is residual value and what the achievable residual value is are often wildly different.

Have you tried www.stonegroup.co.uk ? We have used their team to take our redundant IT infrastructure kit, they give you a rebate back or what we did was kept it with them and they boosted the value by 20% to use against more IT kit.

Thanks all,

We use Stone regularly so have fired them an email and also contacted Techbuyer Europe. Fingers crossed!

We ended up using Stone for this and were quite happy with their service pre and post collection. Their rebate prices were pretty good and was all a smooth simple process.
