AlteredAdmin Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 The basic Question is Does MDT support windows 11, i ask because when looks at the Microsoft documentation windows 11 is not listed.... is it not officially supported? Or did they forget to update the docs? https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/configmgr/mdt/release-notes#supported-platforms The reason i ask, is as we move away from SCCM to Intune, we would like a quick way to PXE and image a machine and install the Intune enrollment package (For machine that don't have an OS or need a clean install), and was wanting to use MDT. Does Microsoft plan to continue to support MDT?
ITGuyNW Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 I've used MDT for Windows 11 and it was fine. I believe WDS only is deprecated with Windows 11 though.
PowerShellWolf Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 WDS/MDTS is to my knowledge does not yet support Windows 11. This possibly might be supported in the next MDTS release or an update next year. How ever Microsoft are pushing Intune & cloud services, so the likely hood of MDTS supporting windows 11 is not very. However WDS should support windows 11 eventually, as you need to still be able to install windows to use in-tune. Truth is I do not think Windows 11 is ready for Enterprise use yet, its still missing features and is still full of bugs. I am a little out of the loop here, so take this advice with a pinch of salt, but somebody will probably correct me if I am wrong.
MartinT Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 and is still full of bugs. Is it really? I bought a 6-core AMD mini PC for home and put W11 on it from the off. It's not only very fast, it's been rock stable since I started using it, and I do a lot of remote admin and Teams work on it. I know it's not an enterprise installation so I ask in all seriousness.
LeMarchand Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 Does Microsoft plan to continue to support MDT? Who knows? At the moment it definitely works as I've done a few machines with it.
ITJS2015 Posted July 1, 2022 Posted July 1, 2022 I can confirm WDS is not support to capture windows 11 Images. #THANKSMICROSOFT

I made the move as I kept visiting users who'd done an in place upgrade and I wanted to discover issues before users. It doesn't seem to like Office 2016 very much, but we're just moving people off that as soon as they report any issue for any reason. We don't want to support it any more either [emoji6] 1
